As the sister reported the handset blew up while on charge, there have been plenty of similar reports with the iPhone and Nokia too. In one such incident, an iPhone user was killed unfortunately. We should all be cautious and always use original chargers. This story below could happen to any one, it's not a mockery of the iPhone's.
Just be careful.
iPhone catches fire, teen girl burned
February 1, 2014
An eighth-grader in Maine is sitting in class when she hears a pop. Then she notices smoke coming from her back pocket.
It's not something you can ever expect.
It was 7:40 a.m. in the Middle School of the Kennebunks in Maine. A teen girl sat down in her classroom.
Then she heard a pop emanating from her back pocket. As Seacoast Online reports, before she knew it, her back pocket appeared to be on fire. She then reportedly fell to the ground, rolled, and tried to get out of her pants.
A teacher grabbed a blanket and fellow students tried to help.
The culprit is said to have been her iPhone. Images suggest it had caught fire.
The school principal, Jeff Rodman, told Seacoast Online: "It was something that I don't think people had ever seen before. I've never seen anything like that."
The teen was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for burns and later released.
The division chief of the local emergency medical services, Andrew Palmeri, told Seacoast Online that the phone's battery had "shorted out." He suggested that the phone had been crushed in the teen's back pocket. Local fire services are investigating.
I have contacted Apple to see whether the company has any comment about the incident and will update, should I hear back.
Cell phones of whatever brand do catch fire. iPhones have caught fire on planes, just as Droids have exploded in ears.
The relief in this case is that the teen doesn't seem to have been seriously hurt.
I've mentioned this before but I'll mention it again.
My 7 year old daughter hates the iPhone's including the iPhone 5S.
Why?
Because only some apps have a back button. So many times you need to go back but because of the lack of a simple back button/option it's really annoying.
Many people are blinded and say, "What do you need a back button" these people obviously haven't seen a proper smartphone with smartoptions and VERY basic navigation.
When my daughter sees a person using an iPhone, she will ask them on purpose "How do you go back?" And she wins the debate!
Can you believe this. The most sophisticated iPhone ever designed. The iPhone 5S with iOS7

Now (After all these years of the most secured, sophisticated not so smart phone) you can swipe in from the left margin of the phone to go back one screen. It works in Mail, Settings, Notes, Messages, Safari, Facebook and some other apps. It'd be great if worked in every app.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
