As per normal, I typed up an email and was ready to add an attachment only to find that it can't be done like this on the iPhone. Amazing, no menu option. I had to them find the item first and then send it as an email and type my email there. Not so smart for a smart phone. Whereas on the android, I am able type press menu and add as many attachments as I want from any where, be it a PDF, a picture, a file, or even a nasheed.

I think this thread will never end.

Apple investors pay the price for iPhone rumour mill

Apple has blamed rumours of a new iPhone for poor sales in the last quarter but it has only itself to blame, writes Shane Richmond.

Tim Cook, chief executive officer of Apple Inc., speaks at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco, California, U.S
Time Cook, Apple's chief executive, said he was "glad people want the next thing".

Over the past couple of weeks, rumours have indicated that Apple will also opt for a smaller SIM tray as they plan on using a Nano-SIM card on the device. This new standard of SIM cards has been heavily pushed by Apple at the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) to be recognized. Since they have got approval, the next iPhone is believed to feature this new standard of SIM cards, which are a lot smaller than the micro SIM cards used on current generation iPhones and iPads.

I wonder if its fr real?

I may have not got your attention on the other threads, so I thought I'd get it here.

Salaam, are there any brothers and sister out there that would like to contribute towards raising some funding towards the highly awaited MuftiSays iPhone App.  Alhumdulillah, the android has done very well and I'm sure the iPhone app will do just as well, if not, then much better.  Can you imagine the rewards you could be earning by helping thousands of people with this app. Your help could save them from eating Haram food, it could guide someone back to the straight path by reading the question and answers or by reading a book or simply listening to a lecture from there.  Allah is the one who guides, so let him make us the means of their guidance.  Jazakallahu khair.  Please contact Admin via PM if you wish to be one of the lucky ones who will gain rewards by others using the app.

Jazakallah Abu Mohammed. It is important we get donations to continue development. As this is posted here, let me explain why as this will become another Android vs Apple - Enjoy

Development:

Android:
On android I was able to learn it, download required software (FREE) for any OS (in my case, Windows) and start development.

Apple:
I couldn't install anything without a Mac. So in order to get this app made free, I'd have to spend hundreds on Mac first. And the development hasn't even started.

So at this stage, so far, Android App is currently cost free.

Building App:

Android: Although not professional, I've never made an android app ever but managed to complete it somehow.
Apple: As I was unable to do this, I had to get quotes from many people. The quotes ranged from 300 to 1000. I managed to get a reliable experienced person to design it as simple and close to the Android version as possible for 400. There was also a 7 fee for the place who got me the designer.

So far, android cost with available resources: Nothing
iDevices app: 407

Submitting the app to the store:

Android: FREE
Apple: $99 / year to have the app on itunes store
Plus the following hassle:
Quote:
In case it isn't obvious, you need a paid iOS developer account ($99/year) in order to submit applications, free or otherwise, to the iTunes App Store. Ensure your Apple ID includes up to date information, and that the address is accurate. You will need to verify your address and identification details, usually by way of faxing a passport copy and utility bill. If in doubt, call developer support for your local country

Costs so far:
Apple: 407 plus app. 70 per year

Updates:
Once again, android can continue being developed in my own time
Apple version will cost per update ranging from 30 to 200 depending on size of update. More if it's a major update.

Now check this. Alhamdulillah I received the first beta test version 2 days ago. I had an old 3gs iPhone lying around at home. To have the app tested, I had to provide him with the UUID so only this iphone can test it. No other.

Then, for me to get the UUID, I had to connect it to the laptop/computer, open iTunes and then see device information. So no iTunes, no cable, what do i do? Luckily, there's an app that gives the UUID but I couldn't copy the text as it kept crashing. So I had to type it up and it looks like something like 8e2ebf12a1255ddfa73967c3c5d20177 - Almost had a headache by the times I copied that. So I eventually sent that. Got the test app.

NOW - trying to get that on the phone without a cable and itunes. I don't think I want to bore anyone with details but I will say it took more than 3 hours to get to a stage where I realised it can't be done after following so many tutorials. Almost missed Asr too with frustration.

So I got a cable, downloaded iTunes. This took ages. To add more to injury, when I connected the iphone, guess what? SYNCCCCC
That took another half an hour or so.

FINALLY, I was able to install it. It took 2 days.

ANDROID: I sent Abu Mohammed a test version of the android muftisays app. He was online so I compiled it, emailed it. He opened it "on his phone" - installed and checked it all within the same minute.

Android Test: 1 minute
Apple Test: 2+ days (and believe me it wasn't pleasant)

So now you can imagine why we feel that for this app to really benefit, it will need funds. After the increased costs and lack of financial support on the app, we might make it a paid app. If you want the free version, you know what to do.

So once again, I'm sorry but Apple is losing a huge battle (still on the light side, don't go crazy apple fans - this post can do without thumbs down) - Jazakumullah
