The idea is to have the slippers in a bag that you carry with you all the time.

I have been a few times and I have never had my slippers taken away.

Next time I will take a photo of my slippers as my daleel with a secret code etched into it to identify it from the other 1 million similar slippers. lol

Going to the super market, the shop or the high street? Don't worry, just stay moderately cautious.

Going to the Haramayn Ash-Shareefayn? Stay vigilant, alert and one step ahead.

Doing Tawaaf? Pockets have been cut to remove wallets while you're walking, in front of the Ka'bah. This happened to a relative.

Someone's purse got stolen while in Sajdah in the Haram (Makkah).

Shoes and sandals left unattended have no chance of survival.

Keeping your vaulables in the Haram next to you or in front of you is not enough. Hundreds of high quality cameras that can zoom in and read the exact verse a person might by reciting from the Qur'aan but steps to remove thieves does not seem to be their priority.

My advice:
1. Don't take valuables, you're going to do Ibaadah for a week or two, I'm sure you can survive without your iPhone.

2. Don't take too much money, enough to get you from and to the Masjid with enough to feed yourself and some to donate to (legit poor people) is enough. If that goes missing, you're still fine.

3. Anything you might need on you, use a side bag that's always in front of you in your hand. A bag with a proper strap, not a string. I kept my money in that, my phone (standard phone) and the random stuff a person might need including a medium size Qur'aan so I always made sure the bag was not hanging too low and without realising, it gave it a little extra much needed weight that helps.

4. Intend that if it gets stolen, you forgive the thieve and mean it.

Quote:
There was a scholar who went to a Masjid and removed his sandals and put them on the rack. he was advised that he shouldn't leave it there because decent sandals get stolen all the time.

He said to them, "Don't worry, they won't get stolen" to which the people laughed (in a good way) that "Oh he'll see"

When they finished and got out, the sandals were still there. They asked him how we was so certain. The scholar explained, "A thieve only takes what is Haraam on them (i.e. what doesn't belong to them). When I forgive them before they even steal it, I have made it Halaal on them so naturally, the Shaytaan will not destroy a thief by making him take what's already his.

Hearing this, intrigued, one day a man from that gathering removed his sandals and put them on the rack (or place for shoes), "If anybody steals these, I forgive them". Once he finished, he came out and the sandals were gone, stolen.

He immediately went to the scholar and started to complain. "I did exactly what you said yet your shoes never get stolen. I leave them once and they've gone. What kind of advice was that?"

The scholar calmly replied, had you really forgiven the thief, you wouldn't be here complaining.

This incident took place two days ago in my local Masjid and it reminded me of this thread (well at least a little bit)

One of the senior brothers was making his way out of the Masjid and he couldn't find his shoes. He found many similar ones but not his and by then most people had left so there was not much chance of finding his own pair. Seeing this, another even senior brother said "Brother, you need to eat Almonds", being upset, the first brother asks him why, so in return he got the response, "You should eat Almonds to increase your memory, that way you will not forget where you put your shoes". The first brother started fuming, he replied "Why should I eat the Almonds, I put MY shoes HERE! The one who has taken my shoes needs to eat the Almonds, not me. I know where I put mine, but the one who took mine didn't where he put his shoes. Give the Almonds to him".

LOL, that was funny.
But seriously this thread reminds me of losing my slippers, and had to walk on the burning hot tiles, could've done with any pair of slippers from that pile in the picture, I would've worn anything any colour, any size! Or maybe I shoudve just had some almonds. Brings back some great memories, Masha.Allah.
