Assalamu Alaikum dear brothers and sisters,

As we approach the blessed days of Dhul Hijjah, I wanted to start a thread for everyone interested in learning about or preparing for Hajj — one of the five pillars of Islam and a journey every able Muslim aspires to undertake at least once in their lifetime.

✨ What is Hajj?
Hajj is the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah (Mecca), Saudi Arabia. It is mandatory for all Muslims who are physically and financially able to perform it. It occurs from the 8th to 13th of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

📌 Key Rituals of Hajj
Ihram – Entering a state of spiritual purity and wearing the special white garments.

Tawaf – Circling the Kaaba seven times.

Sa’i – Walking between the hills of Safa and Marwah.

Standing at Arafah (Wuquf) – The most important rite of Hajj.

Muzdalifah – Collecting pebbles for the stoning ritual.

Ramy al-Jamarat – Stoning the three pillars representing Shaytan.

Eid al-Adha – Sacrificing an animal in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion.

Tawaf al-Ifadah – A major tawaf that signifies coming out of Ihram.

Farewell Tawaf (Tawaf al-Wada) – Final circuit around the Kaaba before departing.

💬 Let’s Talk!
Are you planning to go for Hajj 2025?

Have you already performed Hajj and want to share your experience?

Any tips for first-timers?

Questions about what to expect, physically and spiritually?

Feel free to ask, share, and support one another here. May Allah accept the Hajj of all pilgrims and grant those who haven’t been the opportunity soon. Ameen! 🤲

Walikum Salam my dear sister!! First, your initiative is good for those who want to get knowledge about the Hajj, the 5th pillar of Islam. I want to share some tips that are best for travelers who go to Mecca to do Hajj for the first time. First, pilgrims must set a true intention to perform the Hajj. They must make sure they are going to Makkah for the sake of Allah, not for any worldly goal. Then, travelers should learn about different rites of Hajj, which include staying in Mina, standing at Arafat, Rami Al Jamarat (stoning the devil), and more. Learning about these rites' procedures is also important because Allah will accept only those acts of worship that are carried out in a correct way.
Travelers should remember that Hajj typically lasts 5 to 6 days. During this time, pilgrims will walk a lot and do different long rituals. If an individual has not a good physical fitness, he/she cannot perform the Hajj rituals in a proper way. So, to overcome this situation, getting a good physical health is important. Also, travelers must ensure to select a trusted travel agency for travel arrangements for Hajj. They should bring enough local currency (Saudi Riyals) when they travel to Mecca to do the major pilgrimage.
Pilgrims must drink water to stay hydrated throughout the entire pilgrimage. They should stay with their groups to avoid any unexpected situation during the Hajj. Moreover, travelers are need to know about what things are necessary for Hajj. Travel documents, Ihram clothing, and personal hygiene items are few items that are essential for every traveler to Mecca. So, if you want to know more about the necessary things, you can read the article "What should I pack for Hajj?" to go in the "blog" section of the website of Labbaik Hajj Umrah (a travel agency in the UK).
