salaam

that particular dua has become a riwaaj/tradition to such an extent that people believe it is a sunnah of taraweeh and promote it as such by displaying it in ramadhan in order for it to be recited. isnt this bidah?

forgot to say, some businesses use this dua to promote their business in the masjid by sponsoring posters of the dua with their business details splashed across them!

Please note that there is absolutely no basis for this dua from the Ahadith.

Why specify a certain dua which has no special proven virtue, when a person can make any zikr or dua?

But that's what we've been saying from post one!

I'm thinking general masses don't know about its not being sunnah. Thats why it shouldn't be recited unless everyone knows, because as it's recited during taraweeh, it'll be considered the part of taraweeh salah by many. But the dua is surely not the part of taraweeh.

The famous tarawih tasbih

Question

Is the famous tasbih of tarawih mentioned in the Hadith?

i.e, Subhana Dhil Mulki Wal Malakut...........

Answer

I haven't seen mention of this in Hadith books.

Some Fuqaha (Jurists) have quoted it as a suggested form of tasbih, among other things that a person could engage in, between every set of 4 rak'ats of tarawih.

(Raddul Muhtar, vol.2 pg.46)

One may recite this or any other form of tasbih, dhikr etc as long as it's not considered binding or sunnah.

And Allah Ta'ala Knows best,

I agree with those who say the dua shouldn't be considered Mustahab, as it may give the impression (to those who don't know completely about it) that it was recited by Muhammad (s.a.w.) or he encouraged us to recite it.
It is simply just mubah.

As-salam-u-'Alaykum, I discussed this briefly with my father after Taraweeh yesternight. It was new to him that the dua isn't sunnah, but he said people will sit idle cracking fingers(as some do even in salah), I agreed and said better not to tell, but still people may fall into Bidah, so what do brothers suggest?

JazakAllahu khairan.

If it's not Sunnah, and people are considering it to be Sunnah then you should make it your responsibility to humbly explain the entire situation. Start with friends and close relatives and they can pass theinformation on and inshaAllah, eventually you will be the cause of eradicating a false attribution inshaAllah.

I grew up in a Barelwi family and Alhumdulillah slowly but surely we managed to remove the biddah and shirk from the lives of our loved ones.

There was hatred, anger, enmity and all sorts, but Alhumdulillah, the truth prevails.

Be calm in your speech, use wisdom inshaAllah.

Another Du'a is recited after completing 20 rakats of Taraweeh. What is its status?

1. If this dua/tasbeeh is read just as any other dua/tasbeeh to spend time during tarweehah.
2. Along with this if other duas are added like "subhanallahil azeem" etc, or I do my personal dua with hands lifted.
3. Other person is reading this loudly, I don't know his intentions, whether he is reading as permissible/sunnah/mustahib. I ignore it.

What is the ruling on this.

ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيكُم

Brother, I am no Alim, but there is a masnoon tasbeeh to recite in the Musjid, it is; "SubhanAllah, walhamdulillah, wa la ilaaha illallaah, wAllahu akbar"

So إِن شَآءَٱللَّه, we'll recite this, and act upon the Sunnah : )
