Ramadaan is once more around the bend
which means putting sins to an end;

The musjids will suddenly be full
while the smoker won't take his toxic pull;

All the Muslims will be on the fast
while those who are 'fast,' their sins will cast;

The hearts will be rid of its rust
and the barely used Qurans of its dust;

Women will eagerly don their cloaks
which for them, the rest of the year was a joke;

Men will gladly beards sprout
although the rest of the year they left it out;

Ramadaan comes once a year
but, for the rest of the year, we pretend it wasn't here!

yes, looks like muslims are only muslims for Ramadhan, it is amazing though how some of us can refrain from sins and perform virtuous deeds only in the Holy month of Ramadhan and rip loose for the rest of the year, may Allah swt grant us all the ability to perform these seasonal good deeds all year round.

How true u spk sister 'taalibah'. It's like the day of eid comes and we thank Allah for belssing us with the Holy month by returning to sins. May Allah save us and help us to value the blessed month.

Ameen to the duas above.

make dua for all those innocent civillians that are still recovering from war. may Allah the Almighty make it easy for them. ameen.

some of us spend weeks preparing samoosa's etc for iftaar. what about the poor?
we spend all day fasting, then at iftaar we fill our bellies with no limit. then we feel so full, tired and then become lazy untill we have to force ourselves up for tarawee!! then, some of us snack again after tarawee!!

i personally feel that the whole point of fasting is diminished. how are we supposed to know how the poor are starved when we start looking forward to doing iftaar from couple of hours b4 maghrib. when women go & spend their last hours cooking & frying when we r supposed to spend that time praying & making dua!!?!

we should seriously try keeping our diet for iftaar absolutely light.
its not fair that some women have to spend their last precious hour/s in the kitchen. we only have 30 days of this precious month. why cant we live simple for this 1 month?

ps, im not complaining for myself, as i dont have that problem. but i c it when i go to my mums or in-laws. & i know many women who also do.

I pray to Allah give us the tufihk to carry out our duties and obligations as a Muslim throughout the year and not only in Ramadan. We will regret these days when we stand in front of Almighty Allah and have nothing and very minimal to show for our time in this world, if you don't change our character and lifestyle.

I couldn't agree with you more !

But alhamdulillah, this concern is rising amongst the discerning, and many muslims are beginning to understand the nature of their nafs and how we tend to appease it at every point.

May Allah give us the strength of will and tawfeeq to maintain a stern upper-hand over our indulgent nafs.

I dream of the Ramadhaan in which we make suhoor on tea and biscuits and iftaar on dates, pitta bread and yogurt/milk. It's not that we don't have these simple foodstuffs to hand, but that we can't resist the finer foods available ! What of all those who crave even these simple foods, not having access to even clean drinking water?

Astaghfirullah. Allah has given us such bounties and we do not even regard it our duty to return his favour by sharing it with the ummah. Who can honestly say that they regularly give the total of their weekly grocery bill in charity?

May Allah remove the love of the dunya and it's 'fineries' from our hearts. Aaaaaameeeeen !!!

Please remember me in your duas,
Fee amaanillah
