I don't mean to be rude but Darse nizami courses at major darul ulooms are full time and 8 years long so how do you cover the syllabus in a 10 hour week over 6 years?

I'll have to reply because this user/organisation has an unfortunate habit of never replying. I hope they're not like that with their official mailbox.

To answer your question, it's not fixed. It can be done in 3 years as well. Objectives and targets are set differently by each institute. In reality, the course is lifetime long and 8-10 covers nothing.

Is it time to revisit course names? You can't label both as alimiyyah when there is a gulf in difference in the course duration and class room hours but then again its not that deep because as you said you are a student for life so it comes down to the company of scholars they keep after graduating and how they render their services.

Not really, because it's based on an objective and not time. Most Darul Ulooms in UK is a 6 year course. But that doesn't mean a 4 year course won't deliver the same targets. Just like with books, there's many that can be used. It's based a lot on preferences of the person that sets the syllabus or the Shooraa.

In my experience, I would say 90% of Ulamaa are only graduates. They don't carry the knowledge, practice or burden of Ulamaa. The course itself is Ilmiyyah Deeni, or Aalimiyyah which technically is correct. It provides the tools only.

One scholar guest at our institute said that your real Aalim course begins after graduation. Right now you're only getting trained with the tools and how to use it. This is absolute reality.

We were not prepared for the craziness outside. Luckily we were equipped to deal with it ourselves.

I do see what you mean. It feels almost like an injustice to the full courses but when you look at the real objective, years and timeframe means is not really that relevant.
