🔭 Course Overview:
The advent of Islam, bought with it a new set of standards for Child Protection & safeguarding the welfare of children in 610-616 CE (e.g. Surah Taqwir). By 624 CE laws for safeguarding orphans were established (نزول الوحى الأحكام اليتامى)
Whilst in England, The First Act of Parliament against child cruelty was only established in 1889 and the Children Act granted every child the right to protection from abuse and exploitation as late as 1989, following the case of Maria Colwell.
This course aims to provide our esteemed learners with an understanding of historical and contemporary issues relating to Child Protection and Safeguarding the welfare of children from an Islamic Presepective.

• Definitions of safeguarding & Child Protection from an Islamic Presepective.
• Types of abuse & Risks of this New Era
• Children's Rights-The pre & post Islamic historical context.
• Children's Rights in Islam.
• Parental rights and Parent's rights
• The Islamic Family Framework.
• Child Protection & The Social Context.
• Lessons from the Sunnah
• Roles & Responsibilities.
• Position of Trust
• Safeguarding- A responsibility on every Muslim.

🎯 Learning Outcomes:
This course aims to develop our esteemed learner's knowledge and understanding of:

• What Safeguarding and Child Protection is, and its purpose.
• Historical context and challenges of the new era.
• Children's Rights in Islam.
• To enable the development of positive interaction and nurture, in accordance with The Noble Quran and The Sunnah of our Beloved Prophetﷺ
• Creating a safe environment & social context.

🎓 In practice - To develop:
• an understanding of child Protection and safeguarding in Islam.
• a sense of responsibility as individuals in the family or wider context.
• Islamic solutions and proactive approaches to the promotion of child welfare and prevention of child cruelty in accordance with the Noble Quran & Sunnah of our Beloved Prophetﷺ.
