Ok I have a proposition, one which can inshaAllah unite us all as we work together despite the recent bickering between the two camps which have appeared on MS...the "hazrat worshippers" and the "non-hazrat worshippers" : )
For the cause of Islam we can put differences aside inshaAllah right? Let me explain....
For the last two days I have been searching for info after discussions with my students in their early teens on:
1. Feminism
2. Two women's testimony to one man's
While searching I came across many sites which are propagating misinformation so I myself have added the following topics:
3. Men a degree over women
4. Women's inheritance half that of men (Low priority)
5. Women cannot marry Christian/Jewish men but Muslim men can marry their women
6. men can marry up to four women
7. Men have Hoors in Jannah, so what do women get?
8. Women's deficiency in reason and religion (Low priority)
9. Wife beating / abuse (refrain from judging according to cultural norms - Islamic teachings)
Yes I know there is loads of info out there however I found it too detailed and too academic. I'm looking to put short, concise notes together on each topic which can easily be explained and understood. If what I'm looking for is already somewhere then please can someone direct me. If not then maybe we can all pitch in and come up with short articles on each subject which we can post on forums.
There are many really knowledgeable brothers and sisters here, many who can easily contact respected Ulama....together it will be easier and beneficial for all...otherwise i'll trudge along slowly and probably die before its done!
So to summarise, you need very basic information suitable for beginners/students/teens for:
1. Feminism
2. Two women's testimony to one man's
3. Men a degree over women (can this be phrased better?)
4. Women's inheritance half that of men - (low priority as you have info on this already)
5. Women cannot marry Christian/Jewish men but Muslim men can marry their women
6. men can marry up to four women
Correct?
My recommendation, always start with "why" and mostly the above are direct Qur'aan Verses. So answer is "Allah has prescribed and permitted it and He knows best" and then move on to Hikmah, wisdom, social advantages, scientific support, statistical support etc which can help equip them to realise the infinite wisdom of Allah سبحانه وتعالى as well as preparing them to answer non-Muslim critics in basic manners if ever needed.
The REAL answer (I mean, the absolute real answer) to all of these issues is, "Because Allah said so". Women cannot marry multiple men simultaneously because Allah has prohibited them, women have half the inheritance (in SOME cases), because Allah said so, Men have a degree over women because Allah said so, and so on...
Any reasoning you find behind these ahkaam will be purely speculative and based on human logic, and not nass (transmission).
Dont get me wrong, im not discouraging this. Its actually a great idea to make a compilation of articles that deal with these issues, and good for non-Muslims because they obviously will not accept the answer "Because Allah said so". Its just that sometimes we Muslims get caught up so much in these speculative explanations that they become the entire basis for the ruling, and this is incorrect.
Just wanted to make sure that was clear.
You can add the following to your list:
7. Men have Hoors in Jannah, so what do women get?
Its a common question among non-Muslims and Muslims alike, so I figured it deserves some attention also.
Respected Mawlana Yasin: Yes thats correct...Jazakallaahu khyaran for the great planning idea. It already makes things easier
Number 3: yes it probably can, that was just what occurred at the time
Feminism already under way. After it occurred to me to put down a definition it became very easy. InshaAllah will put together and post here for checking
Brother Arsalan: What you're saying:
Quote:
"Because Allah said so"
(and its also what Mawlana says
"Allah has prescribed and permitted it and He knows best"
I made that mistake once. I cannot remember what the topic was but it must have been either the Hoors or women deficiency in reason and religion (Both questions have come up).....I was shocked when i got the reply "But how is that fair?"
My immediate reaction was of fear as i thought what if statements like that can remove a person out of the fold of Islam. I had to point this out to them by explaining that even if beyond our understanding and comprehension we must not deny it in any way. Yes we can question scholars further for explanations. Since then I tend to be careful and bring in something like: "and you know what? at the end of the day Allah ta'ala Who created us and is All-Knowing and Wise, Merciful towards us and Who loves us, has ordained it"...and this after whatever explanation I can give. This way I can see one or two heads nodding in agreement.
The days have gone where the youth accepted things without questioning or where parents and elders could give a stern warning about not asking questions and we felt fear!
I'm adding two more subjects in opening post. Unfortunately, with atheist teachers and only Allah ta'ala knows what kind of discussions taking place in school, they come up with questions and say "My teacher mentioned it" or "We have to write for or against it" ) :
The details are for Ulamaa so the students never need to be concerned about answering atheists or otherwise in any details whatsoever.
The point of Allah سبحانه وتعالى prescribing and permitting is of vital importance. In fact, in reality there is NO other accurate answer.
If the students counter question like that then you're too ahead in the subjects you want to cover. Maybe they should do Aqaaid properly first so they will never ask "but how is that fair" when Allah سبحانه وتعالى is Al-Adl (The all-Just), Al 'Aleem (the all-Knowing), al-Hakeem (the all-Wise)
You cannot learn Harakaat without the Huroof as they're useless without the letters. Similarly, understanding the rulings of Allah سبحانه وتعالى without understanding Allah سبحانه وتعالى is a dangerous approach.
I know what you're saying Mawalana. I need to point out that that these girls do not come from practicing backgrounds. Their knowledge is minimal and we began with the Tasheel books in Fiqh, Aqaid and Seerah. So they have some background now however their attitude is to question everything, especially "controversial" subjects (its not fair that Islam says ......" which i have to believe are mentioned deliberately in school to cast the seeds of doubts in the minds of the youth. Why else would an atheist teacher mention she didnt believe in God and then ask questions about their beliefs?
Alhamdulillah that they bring up certain questions (Rather than just accept what they hear) which I can try and answer or in many cases seek answers for them. I feel Allah ta'ala is guiding them
In all discussions, try not to use the word "controversial" as nothing in the Deen is "controversial". Misconceptions and lack of understanding doesn't make something controversial in the Deen.
Very true. I think many many teachers are facing this nowadays in UK. But trust me when I say that when the students are 'strong' in their beliefs, no amount of spiteful doubts thrown at them in schools from atheist teachers will shake them.
Let them see the wisdom too from the works of Ulamaa but at the same time do not ignore the importance of "Allah"
In Da'wah, people are called towards "Allah" and not the book, seerah or fiqh. First and foremost is Allah. This is the root cause of the doubts, words and sentences that can take adults out of the fold of Islam.

Their knowledge is minimal
Which is why more emphasis must be given on basics even you cover it with Tasheel books.
Just don't put this issue at the bottom or of mild importance that's all. Other than that, all the topics you mentioned are important no doubt.
Agreed! Mawlana to You and (Alhamdulillah) to me "Allah ta'ala says so" is enough...but their reaction scared me. I will keep what you're saying in mind
@ummi taalib or Muadh Khan:
Is it ok to split all of Muadh's posts into a new thread and just link it from here? It'll make a very informative thread without the additional replies in between
Yes and I would like Aapa and others to interject and ask questions so it can be improved for next time because there will always be a next time with someone else...
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
