Sensory Sensitivities

Sound
This is the most commonly recognised form of sensory impairment. Hearing impairments can affect someone's ability tocommunicate and possibly also their balance. People with an ASD may experience the following differences.

Hypo

May only hear sounds in one ear, the other ear having only partial hearing or none at all.
May not acknowledge particular sounds.
Might enjoy crowded, noisy places or bang doors and objects.

Hyper

Noise can be magnified and sounds become distorted and muddled.
Particularly sensitive to sound and can, for example hear conversations in the distance.
Inability to cut out sounds - notably background noise, which often leads to difficulties concentrating.
Example...Do you hear noise in your head? It pounds and screeches. Like a train rumbling through your ears. Powell, J. (in Gillingham, G. 1995), page 41

Vaccines, Thimerosal, MMR, Mercury Not Associated With Autism

If that's not clear enough, author Luke Taylor and colleagues, who looked at five studies covering 1.26 million children and another five case-control studies of 9920 children, also give the (pre-press) bullet-point version of their findings, published in the journal Vaccine:

- There was no relationship between vaccination and autism (OR: 0.99; 95% CI: 0.92 to 1.06).

- There was no relationship between vaccination and ASD (autism spectrum disorder) (OR: 0.91; 95% CI: 0.68 to 1.20).

- There was no relationship between [autism/ASD] and MMR (OR: 0.84; 95% CI: 0.70 to 1.01).

- There was no relationship between [autism/ASD] and thimerosal (OR: 1.00; 95% CI: 0.77 to 1.31).

- There was no relationship between [autism/ASD] and mercury (Hg) (OR: 1.00; 95% CI: 0.93 to 1.07).

- Findings of this meta-analysis suggest that vaccinations are not associated with the development of autism or autism spectrum disorder.

It's not that we didn't know that already. But a meta-analysis takes the existing research and grinds the numbers and gives the bigger picture of what the aggregate of the findings tells us. Indeed, looking a the odds ratios the authors report-in which 1 means no effect of vaccine or other variable on odds and less than 1 means reduced odds-the data suggest reduced autism risk among children who received the MMR vaccine.

The articles included in their review were any prospective (planned before data collection) or retrospective (planned after data collection) cohort and case-control (pairing study participants with and without a specific variable for comparison) studies. They excluded studies that used the US Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System as their population because, as the authors note, there is a limitation of:

Quote:
"high risk of bias including unverified reports, underreporting, inconsistent data quality, absence of an unvaccinated control group and many reports being filed in connection with litigation."
There's good reason for that exclusion-this is, after all, a database that has included reports that vaccines turned people into superheroes.

According to the paper authors, this meta-analysis is the only one that has quantified the data from the cohort and case-control studies, crunched the numbers, and turned up these meta-results.

In an unusual step, the paper also includes an "Epilogue," written in the first person by one of the unidentified authors, but I infer that the writer is senior author Guy Eslick(note that the below quote is from a pre-press version of the paper):
"As an epidemiologist I believe the data that is presented in this meta-analysis. However, as a parent of three children I have someunderstanding of the fears associated with reactions and effects ofvaccines. My first two children have had febrile seizures after routine vaccinations, one of them a serious event. These events did not stop me from vaccinating my third child, however, I did take some proactive measures to reduce the risk of similar adverse effects. I vaccinated my child in the morning so that we were aware if[sic] any early adverse reaction during the day and I also gave my child a dose of paracetamol 30 min before the vaccination was given to reduce any fever that might develop after the injection. As a parent I know my children better than anyone and I equate their seizures to the effects of the vaccination by increasing their body temperature. For parents who do notice a significant change in their child's cognitive function and behaviour after a vaccination I encourage you to report these events immediately to your family physician and tothe 'Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System'."

As the researchers note, their conclusions agree with those of 11 of 12 systematic reviews addressing the same question. The authors state that they have no conflicts of interest.

The treatment for all these disorders, diseases, illnesses whether neuronal or physical.... even addictions etc. is to get off eating 'dead' cooked food and come back to the 'living' original food and diet created for mankind, FRUITS!
Nothing is superior to fruits for the human body when it comes to nutrition, vitality, regeneration, correction and cure.

Eating halal meat is not forbidden, and eating halal would not be the cause of disabilities and disorders.

Allah سبحانه وتعالى grants illness and grants cure, yes their is much goodness in the food Allah سبحانه وتعالى provides.

Disabilities and disorders are also a blessing from Allah سبحانه وتعالى ...as their is great reward in anything suffered in this world, with sins erased and statuses raised in the hereafter. Alhumdulillah

I never said it was forbidden, but man is a frugivore not an omnivore nor a herbivore, he eats vegetables and meat, but that doesn't mean that is his original food.

In any case, cooking food even halal food, especially at the temperatures we cook it at damages at lot of the nutrients and enzymes within the food in addition to causing more stress on the digestive system to digest, just take a look at the digestive times between cooked and uncooked food.

illness isn't a blessing in it of itself, that is, it is not a blessing to be sought after. Instead if a person is afflicted then a person may seek a cure for it or be patient.

Your opinion is very incorrect, any disabilities or disorders are not self inflicted but are from Allah سبحانه وتعالى...despite how halal meat is cooked it is very far the cause of concern.

I would say yes may be in SOME cases eating disorders such as obesity, bulimia, and anorexia can be called self inflicted...and damaging for the body. Or only having a high fat, salt or sugar diet can be harmful and cause of many illnesses.

There is two things here:

the illness, diesease etc

and food.

cooked food isn't the cause of illness, that's not what I meant. its not optimally healthy either.

I said the best way to heal some one who may be afflicted due to XYZ is through their diet and cooked food isn't the best way, the best way is to return to mankind's original food which is fruit, for what fruit contains.

We stand to differ on our views, which is fine, Alhumdulillah...but it would be incorrect to class a disability as a self affliction....please see following جزاك الله خيرا

Quote:
Deformed Children
The Will of Allah.

O People, if you are in any doubt regarding the resurrection, then
(reflect), Verily, We (Allah) have created you from sand, then from a sperm
drop, then from a clot of congealed blood, then from a lump of flesh formed
(i.e. properly shaped) and (sometimes) deformed so that we display to you
(our power). we keep you in (your mothers) wombs for an appointed time as We
please, then We extract you as an infant.' (Hajj 5)

The decision to create a fully and properly formed child or deformed one is
the decree of Allah Ta'ala. Deformities in the unborn child are not the
result of any accident. These are by Divine design as the aforementioned Qur
'aanic Aayat explicitly states. It is Allah Ta'ala who decides if a child is
to be born with a deformity.

The stages: according to Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam), forty
days after after fertilisation the Nutah (sperm drop) develops into Alaqah
(clot of congealed blood). Within the next 40 days, the Alaqah develops into
the Mudhghah (lump of flesh). At the end of the third 40 day period (i.e.
120 days after fertilisation), an angel is sent to breathe rooh (life/soul)
into the foetus. At this stage, the angel calls to Allah, 'Oh my Rabb!
Mukhallaqah or ghayr mukhallaqah?'

'Mukhallaqah' means a properly and fully formed child. 'Ghayr Mukhallaqah'
means a deformed child. Thus, the development of the foetus into a properly
formed or malformed (deformed) child is decreed by Allah Ta'ala. Allah Ta'
ala in His infinite wisdom decides whether the foetus will develop into a
properly formed or malformed (deformed) person. Since this is the Divine
Decree, it does not behove the Mu'min to register displeasure and discontent
when Allah Ta'ala bestows a deformed child to him/her. Parents should
understand that the foetus is a gift from Allah Ta'ala. It is destined to
develop into a human being. The bestowal of a child to a parent is a
wonderful Ni'mat, irrespective of the child being born deformed. Regardless
of the condition of the gift, it should always be remembered that the gift
is the bestowal of Allah, Rabbul Izzat, the creator Who had chosen the
deformed form for the child.

There are many benefits and Great Wisdom in the creation of deformed
children. Allah Ta'ala Alone is Aware thereof. But on the day of Qiyaamat
the parents who had accepted the Divine Choice will be overjoyed when they
behold the immense rewards which Allah will bestow to them for their
contentment and service of love and sacrifice which they had offered the
child on earth. Thus, whether the child is born sick or deformed, parents
should wholeheartedly accept it and not bemoan their fate. Muted silence
(i.e. a forced Sabr) is not the attitude which the Muslim parents should
display when they have been awarded a deformed child. While it is not said
that one should ask Allah for deformed children, it is imperative that
displeasure and complaint should never be the attitude when a deformed child
is born. Allah Ta'ala knows why He had bestowed a malformed child to the
parents. When deformed child is born, the parents should accept it with
love. The Thawaab for this attitude of love is tremendous. We are sure that
the reward for the service of love which the parents will offer their
deformed child, will be the ranks of martyrdom. Parents who care lovingly
for well-formed daughters will be very close to Rasulullah (Sallallaahu
Alayhi Wasallam) in Jannah. The proximity will be greater in the case of
having cared lovingly for deformed children. The deformed child shoud not be
viewed with disgust and displeasure. Allah's Ni'mat should be accepted
wholeheartedly with gratitude. He knows what is best for His creation.

I never said disabilities are self afflicted! Please read my posts again.

Let me repeat:

The treatment for all these disorders, diseases, illnesses whether neuronal or physical.... even addictions etc. is to get off eating 'dead' cooked food and come back to the 'living' original food and diet created for mankind, FRUITS!
Nothing is superior to fruits for the human body when it comes to nutrition, vitality, regeneration, correction and cure.

Where in the above have I mentioned that eating cooked food results in disabilites? I have said eating cooked food prevents natural healing.

Your above quote indicated that eating 'dead cooked food' was the cause....and the cure was to eat fruits.

Regardless of what you meant, the thread is derailing, it was intended to provide information on 'Autism' for benefit of carers, parents and to create awareness on 'Autism'.

Ajeeb...I think there is some comprehension problems here

I said the treatment for things like this... is to get off cooked food and come to fruits.

Thats like a doctor saying take this tablet 3 times a day without food! would you say that the doctor is insinuating that the food is the cause or that the tablet works better in the absence of ingesting it without food.

My post was general covering all diseases and disorders including autism, you unfortunately derailed it with your lack of comprehension. Jzk.

Indeed Quran and Sunnah is way ahead of science, even in the end times when Sayyidina Eesaa Alayhis Salaam will be around, after the flood when everything is washed off and the earth is clear like a mirror the earth will bring forth its blessings and a single bunch of grapes will be enough to satisfy a tribe. But it seems people are not satisfied with the timeless teachings of the Quran and Sunnah so lets turn to some science perhaps it will satisfy the soul somewhat....

Here is Tony Wright's of Manchester University presentation on fruit and the neurochemistry it contans, its effect on the brain and the body and how our diet has affected us.

Aapa Taalibah, what is your opinion in regards to those huffaaz whose memorisation is exceptional and can tell you page numbers, ayah numbers etc. Do you think some would be diagnosed on the autistic spectrum? There are some people with autism who Allah Ta'ala has given an amazing memory. If you mention a random date and year to them they can tell you which day that date fell on.

One of the most common savant abilities observed in people with autism is the so-called calendar calculation or calendar memory (Horwitz et al, 1969; O'Connor & Hermelin, 1984; Kehrer, 1992; Kelly et al, 1997). This refers to the ability to generate the weekday of a given date within seconds, the spans varying from a few years to some centuries.

bjp.rcpsych.org/content/187/1/83.full

I remember seeing a guy being tested with random dates and he would give an answer within 10 seconds. Some with autism have a photographic memory. Now imagine a hafiz having a photographic memory. SubhanAllah.

I believe some people have an exceptional memory, I know someone who has a photographic memory who are not autistic, if you name specific event they are able to tell you who was in the room at the time, and they are able to recall visible things with accuracy, this person is very knowledgeable and is a scholar and is able to refer to what they've learnt, without mistake, but I'm sure they are not immune to making mistakes.

Autistic people's brains are wired bit differently to ours, I know a boy who is high functioning, has difficulty in the day to day tasks, needs help getting ready etc, but is able to copy and paint works of art with accuracy.

I think it's just that part of the brain that excels the average brain. Einstein was autistic, so were many many people who became famous for exceptional thinking and work. I'm sure their are many such people today even within our own community both autistic and non autistic, it just needs to be channelled in the right direction.
