Academic debates are next to being mutually exclusive amongst ourselves nowadays. So, just like many debates that have passed and continue on, the results have been more negative than positive amongst the common man let alone the Ulama'.

Most of us fall short of fulfilling the conditions of debating anyways. I would kiss Imam al-Ghazzali's رحمة الله عليه forehead for what he wrote in his Ihya on debating:
