Its always good to know what angle the Qiblah is in from your country/city.

The reason for that is the number of people who carry a compass with right intention, try to find Qiblah, but have no idea which direction to face.

I have met many people all over the place who have stopped me to ask the direction of the Qiblah using thier own compass.

Alhumdulillah, having to know the direction is an excellent help to any Muslim. So normally, I would just tell them to pray at 119 degrees from North (when in London). When they find the direction and feel satisfied, it brings joy to the heart.

There are plenty of landmarks around the UK that have compasses all over the place, so that helps too.

As mentioned above, it is good to know the angle in which to face, below are some of those angles.

Compiled on 1 Muharram 1415, Dr.Mohibullah N.Durrani 11 June 1994.

The difference between the TRUE NORTH direction and the MAGNETIC NORTH direction varies from place to place and also varies slightly every year.
The "Variation" between the True and Magnetic North, at places around the world, can vary upto nearly 25 Degrees East and 25 Degrees West.

It is a sad fact, but Sky Satellite dishes are very close to facing the Qiblah too. These can be used as a guide, astagfirullah.

Take a look at a satellite dish near your home (in London anyway), you will notice that it almost faces Qiblah. If thats the case, next time you are out and about, look out for Sky.

I once went on a job and I met a Lebanese friend a who installs satellites, he asked me if I wanted to join him for Salah, so I did. He asked me the direction and I told him that at this moment in time, I dont have anything that will help me, except for those dishes on the roof. At that moment, he gasped and said, "You know, I've been installing satellites for so long and I have noticed that too"

I had mentioned earlier that IT IS ALMOST IN THE DIRECTION OF QIBLAH. However I have seen so many Islamic sites suggesting that the SKY Dish faces Qiblah, but that's not 100%.

And to prove it, I have 2 images using 2 different technologies.

No Need for an explanation except that one is for Satellite TV and one is for Qiblah.

Can I make a recommendation to Admin and Central-Mosque and other Masajids? www.qib.la has a software that can be embedded to the website, It may prove very beneficial InshaAllah www.qib.la/embed-qibla-direction.html

W-Salam,

Added the widget as requested but I have on purpose avoided the discussions about:

  1. Magnetic Declination
  2. Sky dishes

Jazakullah Khairun

Jazakallahu khair.

I too wanted to avoid certain areas, because they were too complex. As I had touched on the dishes, I thought I needed to justify my findings and give a clearer picture because most sites and forums mention this method to be very good, where in actual fact its not. That's why I said it can be used as a guide only and not for precise directions.

I hope I have given the satellite issue enough justice.

Masha'Allah you have done a wonderful job and may Allah (SWT) reward you in this world and the next (Ameen).

The above is absolutely brilliantly done.

Just enter your post code and see the direction of qiblah from above your house.

Recent image, notice the Satellite's. I wonder what they are for. Anyway, although they are not in the UK, these also dont face the Qibla, lol. Come to think of it, they may be facing the UK. I will check on that.
