im not sure what a lancet is.

the brother i go to uses these small blades that look like mini scalpels. they are sterile and individually wrapped.

ok. i use the same blades but a lancet is like a pen that pricks you and is almost painless. its like the same pricking pen that diabetics use to extract blood from their finger when checking their glucose levels. allot of hijamists use it because many of their patients are scared of being scratched with a surgical blade.

this would only leave small pricks instead of scratches? would that be enough? are scratches better?

I prefer scratching because pricking with a lancet has to be constantly repeated over again on the same spot if you want to extract more blood. The pricks seal up quick the first time.I seen through experience that more blood comes out just once by Scratching and itis faster and saves time.the good thing about the lancet is that is painless and preferable for some people who can't tolerate pain.

I use the surgical blades and they are not painful, all you feel is a little scratch.

I've had it down on me by a professional and by my wife who did a one day course, and I saw no difference in how it feels.

Its just a scratch!

(those how have never had it done, believe me, it doesn't hurt)

The lancet doesn't leave any marks. If the hijamist scratches with a blade the right way, the scratches should disappear quickly in very little time.if he is an amateur , he could wind up leaving marks on the patient permanently.

Alhumdulillah, no scars on me. They disappear within a few days. Same goes for my wife when I've done cupping on her.

You are right brother.its really easy.
Most of the poeople who never got cupped are afraid of pain or just can't tolerate seeing blood. The thought of being scratched makes some of them unwilling to try it. But once you try it , the fear is gone.inshallah.

salaam

the drawing illustrates my arm injury and the points where the cupping was carried out. it has helped, but i feel it could have been carried out better. the prominent veins caused by the injury have not disappeared. could the cupping have been carried out better? different points? more cups?

jazakallah khair.

Your welcome!

I was going to edit your own post using [*img]http://www.muftisays.com/forums/downloads/538/arm.jpg[/img*] without the stars (for future reference) but since this thread is in Members Research Group, I'm unable to do so.

See if you can find some one in the uk that does hijamah the same way that I do it using these special glass cups. Try and see if there is a difference then you will know which type is best for your injury. Inshallah.
