I believe it is said that one should be like an open book with one's shaikh. Would it benefit you if you visited the doctor and told him about how good you felt and not mention the problems you were having? How would the doctor know about your symptoms and how will he help you?

On the death of a shaykh i think one should find another shaykh and continue ....May Allah bless all our Mashaikh with ling lives, aameen

Women make bay'ah from behind the pardah with a long cloth or something held at one end by the shaykh and the other end by the women, by phone or by letter (this was how i made bay'ah)...one beautiful sunnah i once read is a large dish of water is put with half on either side of a purdah. Then the shaykh puts his hand on his side and the mureedah on her side and bay'ah is done in this way.

The relationship between a shaykh and the saalik (seeker) is very special because he is the means of attaining closeness to Allah ta'ala. There is no shirk involved as many believe

Jazakallah ummi taalib for answering the questions,I have a better understanding now thanks to you..the wazaif is similar to those of the tableeghi jamath..initially they had to spend 40 days in jamaath and 40 days in the khanqah with a sheikh but for some reason that stopped.

There are plenty of mashaikh within the Tablighi Jama'at and since its important to have compatibility with one's shaykh, i personally feel it would be better for someone with Tablighi connections to seek a shaykh with the Jama'at. Either way it doesnt matter as long as there is compatibility with a shaykh

I would like to know if anyone has more info on different silsilahs of Tasawwuf. I know only of four known authentic ones;
1. Chistiyyah
2. Nakshbandiyyah
3. Qaaderiyyah
4. Suharwardiyyah

So what about the Shadhilli Tariqa which is mentioned in connection with Shaykh Nuh Keller and which is criticised on:

nuh.faithweb.com/inv_shad/ ?

Are there any others and are they all authentic?
