I may be wrong but I dont think we can say the Salafi sect are Shia....
Differences:

1. Shia's elevate 'Ali radhiyallaahu 'anhu, Salafis dont

2. Shia's do not accept khilafat of Abu Bakr, 'Umar & Uthmaan, Salafis do even though they do not follow the Sunnats they established

3. Shia's believe in their line of Imams & Salafis do not

4. Shia's do not accept the Qur'an (or if they do they say its incomplete) while Salifis definitely accept the Qur'an

I don't think anyone meant they are shia? or did anyone?

Some actions and behavioural thinking of the Salafis resemble that of the Shias. But no we cannot in any way call the Salafis Shias directly as it would be wrong. However, we can justify their behaviour to be similar such as number 2 in ummi taalib's post (above this).

Similarities between Ghair Muqaleeds and Shias

Rawafiz or shia and the Ghair muqaleeds :-

1. Deny that the Sahabah (R.A) are the criterion of right and wrong in Deen - Religion.

2. Both groups state that 3 Talaaqs in one session are equal to one.

3. They say that Taraweeh is the bidat of Umar (R.A).

4. They state that the second Azaan given near the Mimbar is an innovation (bidat) and the Ghair Muqaleeds classify it as Bidat Usmani.

5. Both do not accept the decision of Hadhrat Umar (R.A) and Hadhrat Ayesha (R.A) of preventing women from the Masjid.( Fatwa Rahmiyah Vol. 4, p. 42);

6. Both groups deny and reject the Ijma of Sahaabah (R.A);

"yes..this sect is a shia" is part of shining light's post...

Similarities aside, Shia's (or a group of Shia's) are out of the fold of Islam and we cannot say that about Salafis

Its ok..I thought i said "sister sect"..had me worried for a moment though.

They are also rejecters of :

Qiyas

Ijma

Critics of the Imams of Fiqh

Indirect deniers of Hadith

Indirect deniers of the Quraan

Followers of whims and fancies

Mislead and misleading

Not conformist to Sunnat

I know the list can continue however they are not regarded as out of the fold of Islam and that is the main thing. As i ithink i've mentioned befor i read somewhere that they hover on the brink of kufr...may the efforts of this group becomes a means of correct guidance for us all, aameen.

The question is some of the salafis, say there is no harm in following the mathab,if you dont have much knowledge, once you gain that knowledge, and you get a better understanding then one should not hold on to the mathhab,in other words rejected it,one of the salafi scholar said that on TV the other day..so this means once we have good understanding of knowledge,we should reject someone who helped us to understand that knowledge.
in my opinion the salafi sect thinks they are higher then the four imams, their knowledge is more superior then the four schools.

They confuse me so much, but thanks to this group,i am getting to understand them better.
There is a stark difference between the rulings of The A'imma-e-Mujtahideen and a fatwa. The A'imma-e-Mujtahideen i.e. Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Shaafi, Imam Ahmad ibn Hambal, and Imam Maalik (Rahmatullaahi Alaihim) were all Mujtahids. Their knowledge in the tafsir of the Noble Quran and Ahaadith of Rasulullah (Sallallaaahu alayhi Wasallam) was so vast that they had the ability to independently arrive at a decision on any one issue. Hence the difference of opinion among the Imams are differences stemming from Mujtahideen and their different Principles of Ijtihaad. On the other hand, the Ulama of Azhar, Deoband, etc. are not Mujtahideen. They are very far away from the shores of Ijtihaad.

Jalaaluddeen Suyuti (Rahmatullaahi Alaihi), a great and renowned scholar who has contributed in almost every field, viz. Tafseer, Hadith, Usul (Principles of) Tafseer, Usul-ul-Hadith (Principles of Hadith), Fiqh, Principles of Fiqh, etc. was not accepted as a Mujtahid by his contemporaries. The ulama of today do not qualify to be Mujtahids, hence they are followers of their respective Imams. Their differences of opinion do not stem from differences of opinion in the "Principles of Ijtihaad". They are rightly Muqallideen (followers) of their respective Imams.

Alhamdulillah another voice...What or who are "uni salafis"?

Your quote:
"they follow all 4 imams but just take the strongest opinion from each" is called hopping from one madhab to another

Jazakumullah for this topic and many posts. I used information from this topic to send to a 'Salafi' who has got to be the most ignorant self-claimed Aalim who belittles everyone and everything imaginable. I kept replying to him just to see how far it goes and 10-odd emails later, i noticed how he started using my argument in the first few email to accuse the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa'ah of doing exactly what the Salafi do.

He was very offended and he asked me to give up my ways in a person attacking effort to convert me to their deviant ways.

If I ever get the chance inshaAllah I will post some highlights from the emails to show how ignorant they can be.

Members, please please avoid this group and warn others too. I realised something amazing today which I'd like to share.

A thought crossed my mind while replying by email to the Ahl-e-Hadeeth about sects. Just a general absent minded thought about the existance of sects and immediately after, the contributions from normal people about the Salafi's in this topic answered that question. That due to these sects and the severe attacking and digging they do at the normal people has enabled the common lay people to strengthen their understand of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa'ah and our Ulamaa. Indeed Allah has bestowed a blessing in everything if we only heed.
