Overall his work is good, and he took a stand on issues that needed to be discussed, and confronted the modernist, liberal , and "Americanised" apologetic version of Islam.
His critics accuse him of taking on certain occasions clips out of context in order to criticise others.
And ALLAH knows best.
His work in defence of Islam is generally good and was necessary, but as with all these Shuyookh and Dai's and YouTube personalities. It is best best not to go overboard in our praise either.
There seems to be too much cultish celebrity hero worship of
internet personalities. And we should accept that these individuals will make mistakes on occasions.
Jazaakumullaahu khayran brothers
Appreciate your input
So its fine to listen to his discussions on certian personalities who have a lot of influence
Came across one where he exposes a very influential female speaker and wondered....
Yes it's fine, as with anyone making claims, double check the references he is giving when he is critiquing others, that is articles, talks, interviews etc. To see if the context is correct or if their is an alternative explanation that can be made for whatever remarks he is citing in his refutation.
Generally I would say he is correct in is refutations, but not always.
I heard a Salafi Shaykh Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips mention, that sometimes when an individual is so focused in a particular field and methodology he can develop tunnel vision and lose sight of the nuances,
The example he cited was that after years of doing Dawah to his parents, he felt they were on the brink of taking shahadah. It so happened that at an event in the Gulf( in Saudi Arabia if I remember correctly). The parents ended up being seated next to Shaykh Ahmed Deedat, so Shaykh Ahmed Deedat رحمة الله عليه who had spent his entire life in the field of refutation, started throwing out facts, and references and verses to refute Christianity and Bible in his usual direct and blunt style.
The direct and blunt style of the Shaykh upset his parents, and was wholly according to him unnecessary..They were just looking for re-assurance and gentle encouragement in their research into Islam, not refutations. This set his parents back and took a lot longer for them to embrace Islam.
The point is even the best amongst us can make mistakes and develop tunnel vision. Especially those involved in the field of refutation.
This in-depth documentary presents the history of Wahhabism as a political religious movement, its break from traditional Sunni Islam, and its evolution into the 20th century. Daniel Haqiqatjou cites over 60 historical quotations from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab and the main figures of Wahhabism. Also cited are the Sunni scholars throughout history who have critiqued Ibn Abd al-Wahhab and described the core doctrine of Wahhabism as a revival of the oldest heresy in Islam: Kharijism.
The documentary problematizes the Wahhabi claim that it is the purest expression of Islamic monotheism and that it is the faithful preservation of the creed (aqida) of the Salaf, Ahmad ibn Hanbal, and Ibn Taymiyya. The documentary demonstrates that Wahhabism's focus on a claimed purity of aqida has been used -- from the beginning until today -- as a political tool to generate hatred against non-Wahhabi Muslims and spark violent jihad against them.
