The real necessities of people are quite less. And there is no end for speculative and useless needs. The obligation to strive for a Halal earning is only till the fulfillment of one’s necessities. And if it exceeds ones needs then it is allowed such that one can shorten it for the sake of Zikr.

So shortening ones business hours for the sake of it will not reduce anyone’s fate (Muqaddar).. but on the other hand shall yield more barakah..

6. An important consideration -

If other than Allah سبحانه وتعالى someone has special relations with anyone.. or the heart is deeply afflicted with a particular bad habit.. then he may do Nafi of it with this Zikr of Nafi asbaat.. for example, if one is indulged in love of wealth.. then to expel it away, while doing this zikr in the method explained before, reciting La ilaha illallah.. one shall imagine that I have discarded the love of wealth away from my heart.. and then reciting Illallah one shall perceive that I have filled my heart with the love of Allah سبحانه وتعالى ..

Note -

After zikr.. one should observe among those voluntary actions of daily life that I have made an effort for 200 times in the morning to discard the love of wealth.. and even made dua in this regard..Then owing to ones fortitude he may decrease the voluntary efforts employed to increase ones wealth and status. Since Sayyid al Tai’fah Hazrat Haji sahab Quddus sirrah says that..

'Doing zikr with the love of world (wealth and status) for even a thousand years is not of any benefit'.

(interpretation of hadith)

' Hazrat Anas رضي الله عنه narrates from Hazrat Rasulullah (saw) that the kalimah of Lailaha ilallah saves the bondsmen from the displeasure of Allah سبحانه وتعالى till they do not give preference to the affairs of the world over the affairs of the hereafter..

And when they begin to give precedence to the affairs of the world over the affairs of hereafter.. and recites lailaha ilallah.., then the kalimah is returned back towards them.. saying that you lie.. and your assertion is false.. merely a lip service..'

In a Hadith.. Rasulullah (saw) says that one who reaches Allah bearing the testimony of La ilaha ilallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu he proceeds straight to jannah.. till he does not mingle another entity along with.. Thrice he repeated this..

A person amongst the group arose.. saying ‘ May my parents be sacrificed upon you.. what is the meaning of - to mix the other thing..?’

Hazrat (saw) replied ‘love of the world and its precedence.. to gather wealth for its sake.. and be pleased with worldly things.. and the deeds akin to Mutakabbir people..'

(excerpt from Fadhail e sadaqat)

If someone takes medicine for strength daily and regurgitates later on, then its effect is obvious. Hazrat Shaikh ul Hadith Dam’majduhum narrates from Mazahir e Haq.. an observation of the pious that –

'For a person who nurtures a love of the world ..even all the saints and savants cannot guide him..and for he who renounces the world..even all the deviants cannot lead him astray..'

The motive of Zikr Nafi asbaat itself is to discard love of ghair ullah from the heart and fill it with the love of Allah.. the removal of ghair ullah from the heart called as Tazkiyah .. and to attach it with Allah سبحانه وتعالى is known as Wusool..When the heart shall detach away from Ghar ullah.. only then would it attach with Allah سبحانه وتعالى ..

Note -

It’s a saying of the pious elders that in the hereafter.. due to Nobility there is prestige.. whereas in this world there is disgrace due to servility.. in a house (heart) filled with Duniya (love of world), the Akhirah never wishes to enter.. and in a house occupied with Akhirah, even Duniya craves to gain entry..

So none should remain contented that my heart is free from duniya.. Hazrat Murshidi Dam’majduhum writes that a wealthy person is often under a misconception that he begins to think I have no love of wealth…but this a major blunder and deceit…in reality its love has been ingrained into the heart that he does not feel..

( The awareness of everything is when an opposing factor also exists.. if he had even an iota of hate.. then he would have seen the love..

A humble person by nature is not aware of his humility..whereas those who feel they are humble know only because of Takabbur present in them..)

The love of wealth is realized only when it is lost or stolen and the one who wishes to experience it may do so by distributing his wealth.
( experiencing it by suffering monetary loss is rather a major step..one may even test by giving away in charity for own benefit.., by investing in greater profits of Aakhirah)

Later on... if the heart is found having affinity towards it.., then we know love did exist.. and in-case even a thought ceases to arise.. then we confirm there was no love..

It is worthy to note here that some kamileen Mashaikh are prone to a deep sorrow on losing wealth.. and the reason here is not love.. but the fear of losing a blessing… neglecting an Amanat (trust).. breach of right.. granted by Allah سبحانه وتعالى ..

Akin to the profound grief of a Muttaqi Ameen on losing Amanah.. while the ghair Muttaqi remains careless..

I have noticed Hazrat aqdas ( Hazrat Shaikh Nawwar Allahu marqadahu) would get very sad on wasting money.. and filled with joy on learning its spending for the pleasure of Allah سبحانه وتعالى .. and gave a lot of duas to the khadim who was the medium.

Similar is the case of one with Hubb e Jah (love of status).. that he declares having no concern for any praise or rebuke.. and swells upon hearing praise..as for rebuke, even if done in absence fills him with rage..

The reason to highlight this topic in detail is that for Nafi Asbaat to be effective and to gain from sulook the afore prerequisite plays a vital role…


Note -2

Owing to callousness and various (inward) diseases of the heart, this is not a task to complete in a day or two.. but to remain punctually doing zikr and affirming to ones courage in matters of voluntary indulgence in worldly attachments.. to gradually gain passivity..

That to gain strength in fortitude one may keep Fazail e Sadaqat of Hazrat Murshidi in his study.. and keep the company of true fuqara and Zuhhad (plural for Zahid)… and for Islah and Taufeeq of it all.. do make dua by lamenting to Allah سبحانه وتعالى .


Note -3

If the saalik remains punctual of this Zikr.. fulfilling all its criterion of jahr.., dharb with intensity..over a period of time.. gaining the Tawajjuh of Shaikh, then to reach the goal he may not require any additional Muraqaba or Shughl..

Such that only this Zikr would suffice to initiate the real Zikr e Qalbi … and apart from the time of Zikr.., the virtue of Yad dasht shall begin to prevail…, So to make it effective.. lesson of Muraqaba Ma’eyyat is given..

Without observing the requisites of dharb and Jahr.. etc, it is difficult to attain the required Kaifiyat .. if by some excuse the conditions of Zikr are compromised.. then the lesson of Paas Anfas is combined with.. and later on when there is an affinity for Muraqabah then Muraqabah Dua’iyah shall be instructed.

The virtues of Silent Dhikr and its Position in sulook




بسم الله الرحمن اللرحيم



Zikr e Khafi (silent zikr) entices the thoughts and imaginations of the saalik with stillness and anonymity..this zikr is useful to relish the sweetness and pleasure of Ism e Mubarak and to acquire the taste of solitude and tranquility.. and holds importance in achieving disdain towards intermingling and conversations with people.

Similar to Zikr e Jahri, this zikr also ignites Zikr e Qalbi.. condition of Yad dasht..and the love of Mazkoor.. and if done while fulfilling the obligations of Shari’ah then it becomes a means for Qubuliyat (acceptance) and achievement of Nisbat..on the condition that it is done in the same way as is norm amongst the sufis.

The virtues of Silent Zikr which Hazrat Murshidi has written in his book Fazail e Zikr, I shall narrate from page 48 : (Note:Shafiq Ahmed's English Translation)

“ Baihaqi رحمة الله عليه has quoted on the authority of Hazrat Aishah رضى الله عنها that the zikr that is not heard even by the angels is seventy times superior to the zikr that is heard by them.

The following Persian couplet refers to the same thing:

Mian Ashiq wa Ma’shuq ramze ast..
Kiraman katibeen raham khabar neest..

How fortunate are the people who do not remain idle from zikr even for a moment. In addition to the reward that they will get for their outward prayers, their zikr and meditation throughout their life will earn for them seventy times extra reward. It is for this reason that the devil remains worried.

Hadhrat Junaid رحمة الله عليه is stated to have seen satan stark naked in a dream. He asked him whether he did not feel ashamed of the men around him. : “Are these men?” replied the devil. “The men are those sitting in the mosque of Shonezia, who have worried me so much that my body has become lean and thin, and my heart is burnt”.

Hadhrat Junaid رحمة الله عليه writes that he went to the Mosque of Shonezia and saw that a few men sitting there with heads resting on knees, deeply absorbed in meditation. When they saw Hadhrat Junaid they told him not to be misled by the deceptive words of the wicked satan.

Hadhrat Sa’ad رضي الله عنه quoted Rasulullah (saw) to have said . “The best zikr is the silent one, and the best livelihood is that which just suffices”. (it should be neither too sinsufficient to make both ends meet, nor too abundant as to drive one to vanity and vice versa)
Hadhrat ubada رضي الله عنه also narrated the same from Hadhrat Rasulullah (saw)

In another Hadith, Rasulullah (saw) is reported to have said “Remember Allah through perfect zikr”. When somebody inquired; “what is perfect zikr?”. He replied, “Silent Zikr” ..”

(Interpretation)

It is reported in a Hadith of Bukhari shareef that Almighty Allah says “Whenever a slave of Mine remembers Me, Iam with him. if he remembers Me in his heart, I remember him in My heart.”

The meaning of Allah سبحانه وتعالى remembering or being with someone is that my special care is bestowed on him and exceptional blessings and mercy descend upon him all the time.
This virtue is so great a harbinger of such repose to the heart…

But the degrees of Zikr are many.. and this wealth is achieved only in proportion to these. And all the degrees of this Zikr by the Fadhl of Allah kareem, is attained gradually by those who strive with constancy..

The above mentioned virtues are of Silent zikr and in Part I the benefits and rewards of Zikr e Jahri have been explained. Both are detailed matters and are different owing to the conditions and is prescribed by the Shaikh depending upon the need and condition of the saalik.


The Method of Silent Zikr (zikr e khafi) and the Lataif e Sittah


The detailed method of Zikr e Khafi instructed as in the routine of Hazrat Shaikh dam’majduhum can be viewed in Shajrah Naqshbandiya Imdadiya khaliliyah.
Here a brief method would be explained. Our Hazrat does not practice Zikr e Khafi through the Lataif e sittah.

These lataif are obtained through kashf. Due to ikhtilaf among the kashf of akabir , there is ikhtilaf even of their number and positions.

But yes, except for Nafs all the other lataif are interlinked with each other and all lower lataif are subservient to the higher lataif… and the higher ones are over wrapped on the lower ones..

Some people consider all the lataif to be existing in the Qalb itself..thus in the lesson of Zikr e khafi giving emphasis on the Qalb alone becomes sufficient.. its effect spreads everywhere..

Such that it is mentioned in the Hadith.. ‘Inna fi Jasadi Muzghatun…to… wa hiya Qalb..’

This heart which is known as Qalb e Sanobari is a station for Qalb e Haqiqi situated in Alam e Amr.. and by the way of Allah so happens that when the Mureed concentrates towards his Qalb.. then the Principle Faiz begins to descend on the Qalb e sanobari through Qalb e Haqiqi.. and its effect is spread everywhere..
