A few weeks ago my son complained about the same symptoms. As a parent it was very worrying and scary to say the least.
My son had severe pain in the head and his vision was distorted for short periods. We took him to the hospital where they did tests on him. They concluded that he had suffered from a Migraine with Aura.
They said it could've been a reaction from food, such as cheese, chocolate, citrus fruits, stress and more. The worse bit about it is that he enjoys all of them and the stress probably comes from school and more from Madresa where he is currently doing Hifz of the Quran.
Alhumdulillah he is much better now but suffers from a few attacks here and there.
Naturally we are worried for him and he's also worried, but MashaAllah he's strong and wants to stay strong and continue with his Hifz, which many people say is the cause.
Today, I read a post and repeated the words above to my son. The cheer it bought to his face and happiness he felt was overwhelming. He was pleased to feel the experience that was once felt by our beloved. Maybe not to the same extent, but simply by the description. But he felt much closer to the Prophet 
Now, re quoting the above with a slight addition to put it in context:
He has decided to regularly recite the Surah to which this incident is related to, Surah Abasa. Who knows, it might just cure his pain.
