Asalam o Alaikum,

What is taught in a Maktab? Which subjects? What qualification is required for a maktab teacher? Is Dars e Nizami necessary? Or is Darasat e Denia qualified person enough? Which books are used?

Requirements: Hafiz Perferable, Dars e Nizami is recommended. A regular person can fix up their Tajweed and start Hifz and connect with local Ulama for questions and start teaching kids. We need all hands on deck for this. I am neither a Hafiz nor have I fully completed my Dars e Nizami. Requesting Duaa that I get to complete both.

In North America the Maktab Syllabus should be as such.

2 hours daily Monday to Friday or Monday to Thursday with a 3 hours class on either Saturday or Sunday.

1.Kitaabul Imaan
2.Kitaabut Taharaah
3.Kitaabus Salaah
4. Keys to Tajweed
All books can be found for free TheMajlis or Asic-sa . co . za
You may order them through Idara . co in India

These books are very complete
Per teacher no more than 15 kids.
Through experience we have seen kids come for the 2 hour period and don't have the capacity to be practicing or reading for 2 hours.
Take out time slots and adhere to them strictly.
In the first 1 hour to 1 hour 15 mins (depending what level of reading those kids are doing) every child must read his Sabaq and be assigned new Sabaq in that time. Have an order so kids know they have to recite directly after a certain person.
Then teach Kitaabul Imaan for 15 mins. Then Kitaabul Taahara for 10 mins. Now let the kids practice their new Sabaq for 30 mins. In the last 5 minutes read to them from the stories of Auliya Allah Ta'ala. Have a pizza and ice cream party once a month.
Forms of Punishment - Detention, standing or writing lines.

The more love you show the kids the more they will love and respect the Ilm and teacher.
