i agree, and no doubt my opinion is shared by many, and echoed by the words of the respected shaykh Hazarat Maulana Saleem Sahib hafizahullah at shaykh.org narrated by Mufti Suleman Sahib hafizahullah
Qiraat - Ardour or Amusement? Thursday, June 29, 2006
Sitting in the company of my honourable Shaykh, I was extremely taken aback by the great faqaahat (understanding of Deen) Allah blesses His chosen servants.
Shaykh commenting upon a recent Qiraat Programme mentioned:
It is extremely saddening to notice that people these days attend the Qiraat programme to be amused by the performance of the reciters and not the Glorious Words of the Almighty.
How true are the words of our Shaykh. Indeed people attending maybe thinking they are doing a very good deed, but in reality we are using the words of the Almighty for our amusement.
These few words of our Shaykh bring to light questions for us to ponder over.
Do we really understand the Deen of Allah?
How often should we be sitting in the company of these pious servants of Allah so that our understanding of deen increases?
How much degradation has come in the ummah that we are now using this great book for such insignificant purposes?
