السلام عليكم

NOTICE: The following is an old lecture of Hamza Yusuf, but his later lectures are ambiguous and advised to listen with caution or avoid.

But the following lecture is an old lecture of his, its very very relevant in todays condition of Muslims.

The lecture is called' Elements of Success', Advised to listen from 15 mins onwards, where he mentions the role models of Muslims.

Even some of the old lectures of shaykh Hamza yusuf are problematic. One should be very cautious though there are many gems in his lectures. May ALLAH SWT reward him and guide us all.

sorry brother but im only replying to what you stated
NOTICE: The following is an old lecture of Hamza Yusuf, but his later lectures are ambiguous and advised to listen with caution or avoid.
now if you can't justify your statement against another muslim then i don't think you should put statements like that on the internet for any random person to see. anyone can leave this page thinking that he is deviant without any reason. I dont think thats fair brother

I don't see any problems with that since its a form of a disclaimer and the fact that it clearly states : advised to listen with caution

theres no problem aslong as you give a reason, otherwise you could say the exact same thing for every aalim/sheikh. e.g. sheikh muftitaqi saab -btw advised to listen with caution or avoid, but i wont tell you why. Im not having a go, i just think as muslims if you asvise caution against another muslim then give a reason. and whats so hard about giving your reasoning anyway

Jazakallah, valid point to an extent.

Those new to the forums or to the named lecturer will wonder what's going on. I guess the statement was a general one, as majority of MS users are aware of the recent changes imposed/adopted by the said lecturer.

Because Shaykh Hamza Yusuf is a Modernist Scholar who changes direction the way wind (in America) blows so in my opinion nobody who is sincere about his Deen should listen to him (now) and his older speeches should be taken with caution.

We are here to follow the Deen of Nabi (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam) and not of Modernist, hippi, tree huggers.

To compare Shaykh (Mufti) Taqi Usmani (HA) to Hamza Yusuf is an insult at any level be it knowledge, adherence to Sunnah, stature, global standing and confidence of Ulamah etc.

in no way did i compare the two!! anyone reading the statement will know that. and all im asking for is a reason, whats so hard calling him hippi or modernist doesn't mean anything to me or anyone else reading this thread. all im asking for is a reason, am not looking for arguments or confrontation just a simple reason as to why you guys are telling us all the approach him with caution. whats so hard about this??

In a nutshell, The reason is the 'modernistic views' that's why members are advising caution.

If you want to further discuss Hamza Yusuf then make a separate thread.

why are you guys so scared?? you call a muslim names like modernist, tree hugger etc. you clearly have something against him yet not one of you can give a reason?? all i want to know is why?? its quite simple. and i can call you guys modernist giving the reason that you use modern technology for dawah, im sure you guys wouldn't like me going around saying avoid these guys there modern muslims. and i dont want to open another thread. you are the brothers calling another muslim names (this isn't good manners) and then you won't even explain why. again i will say im not trying to start argument or anything but you guys are avoiding a very very simple thing
