Maulana Ilyas Ghumman DB speaks at Sargodha University. He says that we know from the Qur'an that man was created to worship Allah Taala.
Surah Quraysh tells us that the two preconditions for facilitating worship are peace and economic prosperity.

He says that the government, judiciary, and the armed forces are working to provide us peace and economic prosperity. He says we should co-operate completely with our government and our armed forces. He says he was arrested and interrogated by the agencies. He says he never complained against his arrest. He says the agencies were only doing their job.

He tells parents who call to tell him that their son was picked up by the agencies to not worry. If the son is innocent he will be released soon. If he is guilty, he will spend a little more time in custody.

This is exactly what our ulama here in India advise us Indian Muslims, to respect and assist our government and armed forces.

If there are genuine greviances, the ulama tell us to resort to the democratic means available to us.

Even in the matter of offensive cartoons, Colonel Sahab advises us to make use of legal avenues to fight the blasphemers and to hurt them economically through focused boycotts of their products and services. If the Jews can get legislature passed for the holocaust, then we should be able to do the same for blasphemy.

Sounds like a man who really was picked up by the agencies. It's the same advice that's working so well for Muslims all over the world. Turn the other cheek and pretend everything is dandy.

I am not making this statement about Maulana Ilyas Ghumman Saheb (HA) as I have never met him and he is a bit after my time in Pakistan

But a number of Deobandi Ulama have affiliations with ISI and Tableeghi Jamaat in particular is ISI controlled. I have made this statement many times in public over the past decade and taken abuse for it but it is a FACT!

Raiwind Markaz Shura is parctically run by ISI Assets, through and through and have been consistently for decades.

ISI developed links during Afghan Jihad and ever since it permeates Deobandi Institutions and Ulama, it is doing its job. IB (Intelligence Bureau) also does it and it is doing its job.

Deobandees are not the only ones of course and this isn't limited to them.

In order to fight the enemies of Pakistan (foreign and domestic) many Ulama willingly do it and consider it their duty, some do it due to Kashmir Jihad (and needing access inside Kashmir), others do it for money or fame. They consider it their patriotic duty and many may be unwilling. In Pakistan, Ulama and Institutions release patriotic songs and Darul-uloom Karachi has a full ceremony on the 14th of August and Ulama sing etc so Nationalism/Patriotism is always present...I did not use to be this big

This is something Indian Deobandees have introduced as Pakistani Deobandees generally stayed away from Politicians before 1980 while Indian Muslims already went out of their way to show loyalty to the state of India. In a way, Pakistani Deobandees had to react to distinguish themselves from Indian Deobandees.

I don't know why people are surprised about this.

Maulana's rejoinder to those accusing him of being a stooge:

We say with full conviction that we are Ahlus Sunnah Ahnaf Deoband. And we say with full conviction that Deoband is not censured in any country of the world.

It is the legacy of our elder Shaykhul Hind RA that our outlook should be global.

We stand in support of Saudi Arabia on their national day today. It is a matter of solace for us that the haramain are under the rule of Muslims. It is due to this honour that we stand in support of King Salman and his son and we encourage good relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

When us ulama speak of support to our government and armed forces we are accused of being stooges. I say in all honesty that I have never accepted a single rupee from the government or agencies for speaking in their favour. This is prejudice against the ulama. When a non alim says what we say in such matters, he is praised. When we say the same thing we are vilified.

Should we just forget the fact that the British backed the Saudis and helped establish Saudi Arabia? Should we forget that MBS with the support of king Salman is opening up saudi Arabia to all sorts of evils that we haven't seen before? What about the many prisoners which include scholars who are tortured and killed in Saudi prisons? The Saudis are not friends of the ummah. They are friends of their own sordid desires. Inshallah one day when their masters abandon them, they will crawl to the ummah for help and I hope they reap what they sow.

Ulemah in India are advising muslims to respect a government that despises their existence.?

Best not to listen to those Ulemah.

As for Maulana Ilyas Ghuman dont know much about him. Other then a lot of threads are created about him on this forum. Normally tend to avoid those threads.

After reading his words of solace for king Salman and MBS best to avoid this Maulana as well.

Matters of perception lead to differences of opinion.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rvMFp_eK4tk

Maulana Husain Ahmad Madni RA, Moulana Ataullah Shah Bukhari RA, and Moulana Azad RA were against the partition of Al Hind. Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi RA, Moulana Zafar Ahmad Usmani RA, and Moulana Shabbir Ahmad Usmani RA were in favor of the establishment of Pakistan.

The issue was a question of how the struggle was defined. The matter was correct for each group according to their definition of the struggle.

Tasweer are proven haram by nass, but the definition of what a tasveer is, is a matter of dispute, hence the conflicting fatawa about photography.

Only fish are halal per Ahnaf. The difference is in whether shrimp are defined as fish or non fish, and hence the two conflicting opinions of the ulama of Ahnaf.

Just like the ulama of Pakistan will never call people to rise unlawfully against the government and the army of Pakistan, similarly the ulama of India do not call the Muslims to rise up unlawfully against their national institutions. As long as rule of law is in place, at least in principle, then ulama will not call for anarchy.

The situation will change when all civil liberties breaks down, and ulama have hinted at this time and again.

As long as Saudi Arabia is nominally Muslim, we should stand in solidarity with them. When they openly sell their soul to the devil and forsake Islam, then we will realign our position.

Unity with everyone who professes Islam and is viewed by the world as Muslim is imperative since we are under attack from all sides.

Pakistan and India are engaged in fourth generation warfare against each other, where they use non state players to destabilize their enemy. Pakistan uses jihad in Kashmir and India incites internecine bloodshed among Muslims in Pakistan. If their respective intelligence agencies don't do this, they are not doing their jobs.

The taxpayers of Pakistan are being fleeced unabashedly, almost all anti-Islam elements are pretty much having a free hand in Pakistan, a convicted blasphemous was snuck out of the country through the airbase of our very own military, and here the ulema are still waiting for open anarchy by the establishment. Yeah good luck with that. Pakistan is pretty much headed the same way as the Muslims of India. By the time the people realize how foolish they were in trusting a false sense of "peace" rather than trusting Allah, it will have been too late.

One way or the other the ending of this story is with bloodshed.
