Over 600 people attended a unique event held in Manchester with a further 2000 people watching live online. The event brought together local and national Muslim leaders to address the current rise in attacks against Islamic values by mainstream politicians and the media. In particular the esteemed panelists discussed the latest set of measures proposed in the new Government report, 'Tackling Extremism in the UK.' The report sets out a number of measures including TEBOs (Terrorism and Extremism Behavior Orders) which are equivalent to ASBOs that could be placed on Muslim speakers and Imams who the government alleges are promoting 'extremism'. Thus they could be prohibited from attending mosques, delivering talks, meeting with particular Muslims, having access to phones or the internet etc...

Scary and worrisome.
This is the type of scenario that is constantly on my mind.
India has a problem that is equivalent to this one.
The question is what are we going to do about these problems in the UK and in India and elsewhere?
The constant encroachment on our social, cultural, business, financial, political space is becoming more and more suffocating without any light at the end of the tunnel.

The issue here is that people have some concern towards these issues think word jeem or establishing khilafath is the ONLY solution. Others think "tawakkaltu alallah". Both are not the immediate solutions.

And we cannot speak of Jeem in private and in open, show solidarity with local govts. In present world, that dual personality shall get exposed easily.

We shall work towards harnessing the resources available in our youth towards positive development of ummah.

The message is; don't be reactive to the happenings. Be pro-active and bring out the best in you for Positives.

But I don't think this shall happen.

Br Maripat.

Unlike other countries, Arabs got wealth, not through their own efforts, but as gift from Allah SWT.

"Barakah" was gifted in their wealth by Allah SWT, purely as rewards to their ancestors.

But, today we Muslims don't want barakah, we demand 'naqd' pure wealth (may be through haraam means). The reason for this is, translation of "barakah" itself doesn't exists in capitalist dictionaries, "barakah" is a non-existing term. And we muslims have adopted capitalism through our youth graduated in Business Administration in Capitalist environment in the West.

The reason for recent mistreatment to laborers in gulf is this. The era of "Khao aur khilao" is over. Now it is time for "sub apne liye"

Without 'Barakah' the economics shall fall to zero in Islamic world. It hurts to watch indications of Haj is turning towards economics of capitalism.

Here is a song by Sahir Ludhiynavi. The poetry is thought provoking.

pochh kar ashq apani aankho se
muskuraao to koyee baat baney

sar jhukane se kuchh nahin hoga,
sar uthao to koyee baat baney

zindagi bheek me nahin miltee,
zindagi badh ke chheeni jaati hai,

apana huq sangdil zamaane se,
chheen paao toe koyee baat baney

sar jhukaane se kuchh nahi hoga, sar uthaao to koi baat bane

rang aur bhed jaat aur mazahab,
jo bhi ho aadami se kamatar hai,
is haqiqat ko tum bhi meri tarah,
maan jaao to koi baat bane

sar jhukaane se kuchh nahi hoga, sar uthaao to koi baat bane

nafratoen ke jahan me humko,
pyaar ki bastiyan basaani hain,
dur rahanaa koyee kamaal nahin,
paas aao to koyee baat baney

I have read the posts here and I agree with most of the points.

Sahir, on the other hand, is worth avoiding.
