As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
As you know we live in a world where a lot of food contains haram ingredients. This is especially cased in western countries although the situation is not better in many Muslim countries.
My question is what do you use to check if the food is halal?
I use an android app called Halal E Code. You simply enter E code and it tells you if the food is halal or not.
Still, it's pretty much confusing since there are a lot of codes that are mashbouh which means it may be halal or haram depending on the origin of ingredient.
In such cases I simply avoid such foods, I don't want to risk it since I'm not 100% sure if it's halal.
I know that we can contact the company directly and ask about the ingredient but it takes a lot of time to do for every single product you want to buy.

Any advice, tip? Thank you.
