I think many people are leaving with the fitna and fasadh that's spreading like wild-fire in today's age.

- Rawafidhs exposing Sunni Muslim to political issues that took place after the time of the Prophet (SAW)
- Islamaphobes exposing Sunni Muslims to incidents of the seerah that would be deemed inappropriate in the modern world
- Christians in their view questioning the authenticity of the Qur'an

No doubt this garbage is accessed online for the inquisitive mind, and there is plenty on such topics in various forms of literature out there too. So, I see Hafiz Saheb's point that the Internet, and books can do more damage than good if one is not careful, and guided by people in authority/

If you're communicating and working with trusted authorities on the other end then no doubt the Internet can potentially serve as great medium that can be used to spread, and invite people back to the deen.

Having said that nothing tops/beats attending live seminars/majlisis with reputable scholars attending, and delivering heart-felt lectures. We need more of these ingrediants to protect our youth.

Well I remember Shaykh Riyadh ul Haq mention in a lecture years ago an encounter with a Murtad who kept mentioning "Love."
Also heard Dr Hussain Abdus Sattar mention the same thing on his encounters with some Murtads the lack of Love!

Recently I heard Nouman Ali Khan mention as to how many muslims are being alienated because Islam is being presented in a very dry form full of rules and regulations, Love and mercy hardly gets a mention.

Finally I heard a shaykh from Morocco mention that this is the era of Jamal whilst previous eras may have been ones of Jalal.

That is in this era people are emotionally different and emphasis should be placed in conveying Allahs, Love, Rahma, forgiveness, generosity, compassion, affection etc. Also that for Shuyookhs in the previous era their method of teaching would some times be very strict and harsh with students, that kind of discipline does not work in the present times if the Shaykh reprimands or harshly rebukes a student for some misconduct that student will stop attending the gatherings of the Shaykh.

not sure what you are disagreeing with here. no one said deen will spread just through books and the internet. but no one can deny that the internet is a good platform if utilised correctly by ulama and other like minded people.

The first step towards irtedad is distancing from deen. The reasons are many. I concentrate on this while moving in tableeg.
1. the christian missionaries poach on poor, their miseries are cashed upon.
2. they offer girls, jobs, medical treatment etc.
3. love affairs and relationship at work place.
4. mistreatment by fellow muslims.

But on media the missionaries put different words in their mouth as reason for conversion, like terrorism, polygamy, mistreatment to ladies etc. etc.

Let me quote my own experience. I met an elite athiest, his story was that, in his young days, he served the community with zeal. But the elders in the masjid committee did fraud, he god wild and distanced himself from deen and then turned to atheism. He keeps books by Lenin, Marx etc.

Regarding discussion between br sulaiman, xs11ax, let me add here. Compare to magnitude of fitnah globally, brothers who are offering sacrifices are in small in number. Also they are poached by different groups. So the concern by Br Sulaiman should be taken seriously. We need exponential higher effort to tackle the fitnah, that requires large number of brothers. May be br xs11ax can relate the number of people in is locality and the brother who are serious in tableeg effort.

interesting topic, its about time this is discussed. I had been saying for ages its a major problem and no one seems to talk about it. we get so happy when someone reverts ( which is good) but pay no attention to those who are leaving. personally i find the follow direct and indirect factors which lead people to leave islam

1) islam becoming irrelevent or more precisely we make islam irrelevent. We have reduced it to just a few emply slogans and occasions as oppose to an entire way of life and system, which in turn makes Islam just like any other religion. we all know people even family sometomes who think islam should be left in the masjid and that it

2) we dont offer solutions and alternatives. muslims have been here since the 60s yet we have failled in matters like providing halal banking/mortages, failing to address issues like drugs and zina in our community BELIEVE ME ZINA AND DRUGS IS RAMPANT!!!!! yet no one seems to be really bothers. go to any local shoppin malls you even see hijabis openly up to no good

3) anti muslim propaganda and islamphobes attacking core believes and fundamentals which we dont address. It really makes my blood boils tha in 2015 scholars ( including deos) are still having pathetic talks and lectures on salafis breali and bashing others yet not one dares defending islam from non muslims. I sometimes think life is easier when you dont practise. as soon as you begin to show interest in islam you get introduced to sectarianism and internal feuds about who to listen or what mosques to go etc

4) linked to above ones we dont actually explain the beauty of islam and benefits ( althought it is difficult without being ruled by shariah) the hikmah of Allahs commands. on the other hand we got dogs like maajid nawaz you preys on the fringe muslims who go the ' we cant judge' mentality' that everyone can make up their own islam. go commit zinaa, visit strip clubs, go marry non muslims its all fine and if anyone oppose you they are islamists and extremists.

finally our intention. lets face it most of us are just here due to the ease and comfort. we have that MashAllah but what a heavy price. I remember hearing from a maulana that once a guy met hazrat maulana maseehullah رضي الله عنه and told him how great the muslims are settling in the uk and how rich they are becoming, the guy was very happy about this so called advancement. Maulana maseehullah رضي الله عنه replies yes you have become rich and increaed in your dunya but your rooh is gone.

that was in the 70s/80s. imagine he saw the muslims in uk now. I dont want to sound a pessemist but i dont see islam actually gropwing and progressing. yes numbers of 'muslims' will increase but spiritually we are rotten and the number of murtads will increase sharply so much so they wont even be ashamed you hide it. even when i was in college about 10 years ago i met a few murtds who were hiding it from their families. it is a seriious issue. all we can do is ask Allah to protect our imaan and give shukr for having it.

There are a number of factors that increase emaan, and there are a number of factors that decrease emaan. When Emaan gets really low, people leave Islam.

The biggest factor, in my opinion, that decreases emaan is the environment a person lives in. Today the environemnt at home, in schools, on the roads and in society in general makes Islam look backwards. The tableegh towards kufr is stronger these days.

To counter this a person needs to spend as much time as possible in the correct enviroment. MOre time in the masjid, with pious people, in conference etc.

But unless people are called towards these things initially, rarely does someone come himself. That is why tabligh needs to be stepped up.

Also, I do not believe that are conferences, reading books are very effective. A person leaves a conference and it's more about how awesome the speaker was or how great the conference was organised etc. 98% of the information gained is forgotton within a week and I would would be very suprised if even 1% is actually implemented.

THis brings me to the second major problem.> People are always learning but NOT implementing much at all.

We need people to start learning less and start implementing more. Infomration learnt that is not going to change your life, or benefit you or someone else in someway is just information.

I will post something from Mufti ibn Adam about this also.

This image is a staatement by mufti ibn Adam. I have been thinking along similar lines myself for a long time. This is why I belive smaller and more regular halaqa's are better for both dawah and learning than big fancy conferences. THis is why I belive tabligh jamaat is so much more beneficial than all these talks and confernces

just because you dotn see it does not mean its not a big issue. mostly because most apostates are still scared of coming out with their kufr and also you prob live in a very muslim populated area where it seems everything is nice and rosey.

people are not only becoming apostates by openly sayign we are non muslim but by rejecting fundamental beliefs and introducing kufr beliefs. believe it or not maajid nawaz and monkey man usama hasan still consider themselves muslims but we all know they aint.
