Jzk sister, post updated.

Now that I think about it, putting the two together, i.e. my daughter calling it scary and the fact that it's a faceless doll, that would make it a Voodoo doll! :(

There's generally a sad trend of parents believing that everything is permissible for children. Perhaps after seeing a few people get guided and becoming pious after living a life of sin, they feel that they can get away with ignoring tarbiyyah for their children. It is especially difficult for people who may have not completely followed the Deen previously to try to convince parents to at least give a better upbringing for their kids, because they will just bring up that own person's example.

Our `Ulamaa' respectfully disagree with the opinion of Shaykh Ibn `Uthaymeen (rahmatullaahi `alayh). A proper upbringing of children is extremely important in our times. However, we have parents giving their children western haircuts, dressing them in small clothing which sometimes reveal the satr (possibly small shirts and shorts), leaving them to watch immoral shows and movies on the television, and also leaving them unsupervised on the Internet. If Imaan is built, following the complete Deen as a lifestyle becomes very easy. But if a person does not value Imaan, there is no hope illaa maa shaa' Allaah (except what Allaah wills).

Difficult one, many different interpretations, gets very confusing... Harder still when friends and family all the things you try to avoid and give it as gifts to your children.
