Brothers and sisters, please go by the rules.

I had asked if a new thread could be started on this topic, but once again I felt like we (Authorizers) are simply being ignored.

No hard feelings to anyone, it just makes everything so easy to find etc.

Apologies.. there is a lot of material in that link including some scans from Al Maslak Al Mansur fi Radd Al kitab Al Mastur by Shaikh ul Hadees Hazrat Maulana Muhammed Sarfaraz Khan Safdar sahab رحمة الله عليه in refutation of the Mamati Maulvi Neylawi.

khair.. i was a little hesitant to make a thread just to post a link..

Barakallah feek,

(salaam)

This is such a non-issue that its almost not even worth mentioning because:

(1) Most Muslims dont even know what a mamati or hayaati is
(2) To outright assume that someone is a mamati would be a massive assumption.
(3) To find out your imam is a mamati, you would literally have to ask him the specific question, which would be awkward and inappropriate prying when you should be doing husne-dhann and just praying behind him.
(4) Many `ulamaa do not hold it to be makrooh (tanzihi or tahrimi), but simply better to avoid if possible.

Fatwa is given by Darul uloom Deoband.

Its a matter of Aqeedah.. not ur Personal opinion..

What are Mamatees? What do they add to the Aqeedah of Ahlus-Sunnah Wal-Jamaat?  Whenever you add too much it is always a bad idea!

salaam

i had never heard of mamatis until an issue cropped up in batley/dewsbury around 20 years ago. a small masjid/madrasah opened up in batley and it had the support of some brothers in the community as the masjid was free from the grip of the gujarati Indian Muslim Welfare Society and all the indian vs pakistani politics. it turned out that the imam was a mamati and for this reason many people who originally supported the masjid stopped attending it and refused to pray behind that imam. through this incident it also transpired that another local masjid was lead by a mamti imam. i was very young at the time and just did what others did and stopped going there.

apparently a mamati differs from a hayati in the belief that Prophet (saw) is not physically alive in the grave (hayati belief). they believe he is only alive in the state of barzakh (which i think being alive in barzakh applies to everyone?).

is this not the same belief as the salafis?

all that can be confirmed is that discussions regarding mamatis are extremely confusing.

and it's off-topic with regards to this thread.

Then how can a Fatwa be given that something is Makrooh without explaining what the issue is? I have spent years asking this question and nobody seems to be in a mood to explain.

BUT they have seem to have made this an issue of life and death in Pakistan!

The issues of mamati would normally come under discussions of "Simaa' al Mautaa". Hadhrat Ml. Sarfaraz Khan Safdar rahimahullah has a couple of books touching the subject.

But, this is the the only detailed discussion/compilation on the issue I know of. I am still reading it as yet. It does give a good synopsis of what the problem/issue is about.
