UK Pilgrims Killed in Crash

Updated: 13:50, Saturday December 09, 2006

At least two British tourists have been killed and a number of other UK travellers hurt in a coach crash in Saudi Arabia.

The two are believed to be Muslim pilgrims on their way to Mecca for the annual hajj festival.

The bus, heading from Medina to Mecca, hit a road barrier after the driver fell asleep at the wheel, Saudi police said.

The incident happened at Rabegh, about 55 miles north of Jeddah.

Consular staff have been at the scene and are also providing assistance to Britons caught up in the accident.

Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from around the world are expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks for the haj pilgrimage which begins in late December.

Around 125,000 Britons visit Saudi Arabia each year for the hajj and umra pilgrimages in the holy city of Mecca.

Another 20,000 British expatriates live in the kingdom.

Inna lillahi wa inaa ilayhi raajioon.

One of the brothers who passed away was actually our hajj tour guide (to be). May Allah grant him forgiveness and the welcome of a martyr into Jannah, insha Allah. May He grant the family solace and peace in this time of difficulty, and may He re-unite them all in Jannah. Aameen !

Please do remember all those who were martyred or injured in this incident in your humble duas.

Fee amaanillah

Wassallam

Third Crash Briton Dies
Updated: 11:31, Monday December 11, 2006

A third British pilgrim has died in Saudi Arabia from injuries sustained in a bus crash on Saturday, a British diplomat has said.

The crash killed two other Britons and left many more injured.

The bus, travelling between the Islamic holy cities of Medina and Mecca, hit a road barrier in the early morning.

Saudi police have said the driver fell asleep at the wheel.

About 20 Britons are still in hospital, three of them in a serious condition, the diplomat said.

Two died immediately during the accident, which happened about 55 miles north of Jeddah, and 34 were injured.

Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from around the world are expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks for the Hajj pilgrimage which begins in late December.

when a person sets forth to perform hajj or umrah and passes away enroute, he shall not be brought (before Allah) for judgement, nor will he have to give account. it shall be said to him: 'enter jannah.'

(targhib)

inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raj'eoon.

may Allah grant me such a status.

masha'allah, what a beautiful hadeeth. surely they are the lucky ones.

i just told my husband that we should speak to both set of parents regarding my children (the ideal upbringing etc), in case we encounter death while enroute to my destination.

maljee was the tour operator. (shahly. i guess he was the one you were talking about) my condolences to all family and friends of the deceased ppl.
