Yes, some people will profit from it. But that doesn't make the problem any less real. The virus could be a conspiracy, came from outer space, or even a warning or punishment from Allah. But the fact is that it is there and people are trying to fight back in whatever way they know how.

My nephew had a punctured lung not so long ago. He is a child. He is on heavy medication due to his health issue. Whether the virus is man made, extra terrestrial, or a direct punishment from Allah - he is not responsible for it, but now he has to live with it. He has come down with the symptoms and is now in isolation with the rest of his immediate family. For him the threat of the virus is very real. My son is on immunosuppressive medication. For my son the threat is very real. You and I might be fit and healthy, but others aren't. We have to think of everyone not just ourselves.

There are great benefits of herd immunity for the economy. The sick, old those with disabilities etc were to die it would lighten the burden on the healthcare system and save the government a lot of money in social care and benefits. So it’s not difficult to see how governments will be benefiting in the long run and understandably taking a more lax approach.

Test kits are available at £300 per kit and they’re not reliable even if you have the virus there is a high chance it will tell you you don’t have the virus lol. Good money making scheme from those who like to panic buy.

It's all relative to your environment. I saw video of bilal abdul kareem yesterday from Syria. He was saying for them this is like number 10 on the list they have more imminent dangers such as barrel bombs. So yes there might be more dangerous things in the world but for most of us in UK I would say this despite being reletivly low in terms of us dying from it (excluding over 60s and those who are at risk) is probably our main risk of death. Personally I'm not worried about it nor think masjids should close but will prob change my behaviour due to my mother who is in her late 70s and has many health conditions.

On a side note, this corona givne me some indication on why and how dajjal will be such a fitnah. I mentioned in dajjal thread maybe many will follow due to worldly benefits. Today I went to buy strawberry yogurt for my kids and some milk from tesco half the Isle where empty. If this is how people are behaving over a silly virus which has No impact on stock of goods imagine when dajjal comes following years of famine. People will literally kill each other over a egg and milk. If dajjal then offers you fresh meat bread and of course the vital essential that is toilet roll you can imagine people queuing to take him as their rabb. Allah save us. We can joke about it today but who knows if we can actually resist and place our trust in Allah. Its not a test I would like to face. Whislt alhamdulilah having everything I need atm and family not in danger of dying I can dismiss dajjal easily but you hear of how cheap people sell their imaan for and when he comes selling your iman could even save your life.

The Islamic case against hoarding is very clear. This should be enough for any believer to stop such behaviour. There are significant economic impacts of hoarding as well. To stop this from harming the most vulnerable, both consumers and businesses need to adopt ethical behaviour. This is incumbent upon us all during these difficult times.

I’ve never felt more worse than I have past few days. I have been shopping more than usual but only what I can carry not more. Not just for myself also for two other households where there are elderly couple who have stopped going out and another who is disabled. As I have a compromised immune system I will not be leaving my home from tomorrow there has been an increase in cases in our local area so I feel I need to start taking precautions.

Anyway the amount of shopping was just overwhelming and I was thinking people shop like this on a regular basis buying things in multiples and hoarding non perishable items for weeks and months. What is the point? Where within all this obsessive buying does the thought of our provider come in. Do we not have faith in Allahs as our provider?

This experience with watching people panic buy and bulk buy has been an experience. May Allah save us from ourselves. If we don’t die from the virus our hoarding and over indulging sure will.

How long can the coronavirus live on clothing?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the coronavirus is usually transmitted through respiratory droplets (from an infected person sneezing or coughing) rather than through fomites, objects and materials that when contaminated can transfer disease. However, the CDC notes that evidence suggests that the novel coronavirus may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials, which includes clothing.

Articles of clothing, according to public health specialist Carol Winner, can hold respiratory droplets, as we use them every single day. These particles can dry out over time and inactivate the virus. Byt this doesn’t mean that it will happen quickly, and she said scientists are still learning more and more about this virus each day.

“We know that the droplet can dry out under some conditions, which may be faster with natural fibers,” Winner told HuffPost. “We’re hearing that heat and humidity can affect viral survival on surfaces, but remember, it’s 80 degrees (Fahrenheit) in Australia, and Tom Hanks still got it.”

Are certain types of fabrics more susceptible to the virus than others?
Robert Amler, dean of the School of Health Sciences and Practice at New York Medical College and former CDC chief medical officer, told HuffPost that the duration of the virus depends on the fabric, as some materials are more porous than others.

“Some researchers believe the fibers in porous material catch the virus particles, dry them out and break them apart,” Amler said. “Smooth surfaces like leather and vinyl can be wiped clean.”

Family and emergency Dr. Janette Nesheiwat suggested that polyester, spandex-like material may retain germs longer than breathable cotton-based fabrics, making it important to wash leggings, underwear and dresses carefully (more on how to do that later!).

“Polyester spandex-like material may retain germs longer than cotton-based fabrics, but all types of fabrics can be contaminated,” Nesheiwat said.

As information and research pertaining to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, continues to evolve, Winner stressed that so far studies focused on it tells us about the virus’ ability to remain on surfaces such as cardboard, steel, copper and plastic-door knobs and high-traffic areas.

“The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease has told us that some viruses can remain active after two or three days on plastic and stainless steel, 24 hours on cardboard and four hours on copper,” she said. Be aware that some of your buttons, zippers and other clothing hardware could be made of those materials.
