Our cities boast of revolutionary religious reformation.

It is now Muharram and Safar, we persist with the same old practices. For full 60 days, marriage halls are unoccupied, tailors are jobless, garment/cloth shops in muslim localities don't have business etc. Muslim masses are waiting to sight the moon of Rabiul Awwal, to end the so called inauspicious days.

The conclusion is; Collective efforts of all jamaaths/groups have resulted in creation of few SAMPLE individuals/families. Masses follow the same old shirkiyah practices.

This is a wake up call. Face the reality, stop infighting. Recall the hadith of people traveling in ship; it is not only the lower deck travelers who are wrecking the ship. collectively all travelers in ship are damaging the ship.

Our ancestors had created an alternative for 2 "Aashaada" months from hindu culture, masses continue with that. If this is happening in Cities, that too, even after decades of concentrated efforts, then, rural population?

Irtidad; Molana Ali Mian RA had said "Bahuth kaam baaqi hai, abhi chhuttee lene ka waqt naheen hai"

Today heard in slum, mute participant in meeting good number of muslim brothers here:
1. Bhai ham aadhhe khush kismet hain, imaan waalay ke ghar mein paida hoegaye, aadhha kaam baaqi hai imaan bacha kar le jaana. Cycle ki fikr karo to baaqi rahthi hai, warna?
2. bhai namaaz waali rozi maango, jis rozi mein namaaz aasaan hoe jaye. warna hazaar wala hazaar mein pareshaan aur 100 wala sau mein pareshaan.

Many more.

No quotes from tafseer of quran, no saheeh hadith etc. But message has reached, that too in beautiful manner. Many salutes to these simple brothers. They are doing their job.

What do you expect from Tabligh, Madrassah and Khanqah efforts? Why do you expect more than what these institutions can deliver?

These efforts can only benefit a limited number of Muslims. Can't you see that?

Unless the system of the state is not changed and re established according to the teachings of Quran and Sunnah, the majority cannot be rectified and corrected. Khilafah is the only solution. And it is the responsibility of those pious and knowledgeable few to establish khilafah. Otherwise they will be severely punished when the ultimate punishment comes for the whole community.

This we are hearing for the past half century. This is an excuse to postpone things, to do nothing today and to sell dreams.

Taleem, khanqah, tableeg etc. are doing their possible today in cash, many among them are offering 100%. And we are witness to results delivered by them.

Do we have to wait for khilafath to reform and save imaan of 75% muslims living in remote places. What stops us from taking actions. Lame excuses. How many more centuries do we have wait, we have already lost centuries.

May Allah forbid; If my own brother/son/son-in-law is on edge of irtidaad, do we sell dream, do we say " brother I will wait for khilafath then you will be reformed". No!!!!!!! I will take immediate actions, the same way, ummah is a single body, a prick on my foot my whole body feels the pain.

No! I am not saying that we should wait for khilafah. What I am saying is that we must do our best whatever we can but we should not and must not fool ourselves that without khilafah all the people will benefit from the current efforts.

There is a proverb in Arabic which roughly translates "People follow the deen of their rulers".

What I am trying to say is that if the current institutions and efforts don't make khilafah as their main goal then merely engaging in these efforts isn't enough. Without a Shariah state, Islam is merely a religion and not a deen (way of life). It is totally opposite to secularism which is following one's own desires. Islam means submission to the will of Allah through the way of Prophet Muhammad SAWS in each and every aspect of our lives individually as well as collectively.

For instance,

Tablighis often say this that only 6% of the ummah is praying salah regularly and we must do tabligh in order to make the other 94% to offer salah. Theoretically, it is good and (currently many of us may have no other choice but to do it) but practically there is a problem. Imam Abu Hanifa RH states (paraphrasing) "If a person leaves prayer intentionally then he should be jailed. If he repents then should be released, otherwise he should be left in jail to die." Imam Ahmed's Rh stance is more stricter and his fatwa is to kill such a person because by leaving prayer deliberately , he is outside the fold of Islam.

Now the enforcement of this law can only be done by a state and not a group of people or any individual of the society. My question is that if such a basic and fundamental pillar of Islam needs a state to enforce it completely then what about the rest of the deen. How is it possible that without khilafah, all the muslimeen will become practicing Muslims.

By this, I don't say that we should sit and remain idle but we must do whatever we can. However, we must not expect from these efforts more than they can offer.

Establishing an Islamic Khilafat is not the aim and objective. This has been mentioned before in other threads (which I can't currently recall - also a talk by Shaykh Riyadhul Haq who also emphasized this point - that this is not our goal.

Of course it will be awesome and very very helpful.

Khair, here is quote from a Salafi scholar....
" Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid wrote:
He spoke the truth who said: Establish the Islamic state in yourselves, and it will be established for you in your land. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad.

This is very unfortunate to see that some very educated brothers here think that Islam is a religion like other religions by stating that "Khilafah is not the goal".

However, the life of Prophet SAWS and his companions RA is telling us another story. I wonder why did they establish a state in Madina? And I also wonder why did they defeat Rome and Persia and expanded the state to those lands? Why didn't they just give dawah and spread ilm? I am sorry to say that this kind of thinking is very dangerous and the kuffar want us to think like this. This is not the thinking which Shaykh ul Hind Rh or our akabir ulema left. This is not why Maulana Qasim Nanotivi RH who was the hero of war of independence of 1857 and who was himself a wali, alim, da'ee and mujahid founded Darul Uloom Deoband. And without establishing a state how can the hudood be established like the hadd of zina, liquor , murder etc. So much of the deen is not implementable without a state. I haven't visited the link yet so I don't know from which point of view the Shaykh is saying that.

Our war with the kuffar is only based on the system. They don't mind our salah, zakah, saum, hajj and kalima. The only thing they mind is our system of governance. If today the Taliban become democratic, the Americans will leave happily and the world will be at ease.

Khilafah is an institution which will facilitate the tazkiyah of the masses by enjoining good and forbidding evil with the help of state institutions. The masses are like sheep and they need a shepherd. Tabligh, Madrassah and Khanqah can benefit only those who are willing to get benefit from these institutions. Also those who are gaining benefit are in constant danger of losing their piety because of the sinful environment encouraged and enforced by secular states.

Imagine a place where music and un-islamic dress code and behavior is forbidden by the state itself. Won't those who offer salah will have more khushu in such an environment? Imagine a place where the state collects and distributes zakah correctly. Will there remain any poor soul who is helpless and needy?

Those who lived in President Zia era tell me that once he announced that those who will not offer five times prayer in the masjid will be punished and fined by the state. Although this law was not enforced vigorously because of outside pressure but the result of ruler of the land announcing it resulted in people coming to masajid in large numbers out of fear of punishment.

You may argue that in that case people will offer prayers out of fear of government and they would have no ikhlas. My response to that thought is that yes! at first it would be fear of government. However, because of being exposed to the norani environment again and again, their hearts will someday get the message and they will start becoming sincere.

We can't force others to embrace Islam. It is among them and Allah. Allah guides one to Islam if one has the talab. However, once a person becomes a Muslim or is a born Muslim then the rulings of Shariah become compulsory upon him to follow. This is the state which is responsible to ensure that he doesn't break any law defined by Shariah in public. And it is the level of tazkiyah which will dictate the level of his practice in private where the state is not allowed to intervene or spy.

Khilafah will not jail the 96% of Muslimeen. However, the majority will observe the deen because under a true khilafah.

1. They will get the right environment which will affect their hearts.
2. They will be discouraged to do sins openly which will help make a better Islamic and pious environment.
3. They will get facilitated to do good deeds without hurdles.
4. Propaganda against Islam from secular and liberal class and anti Islamic forces will be banned.

Late Justice Javed Iqbal, son of Allama Iqbal Rh, who was himself a secularist when visited Afghanistan under the rule of Taliban. On his return to Akora Khattak, he said "If another three or four Muslim countries follow and establish the system of Taliban then Islam will spread in the whole world".

I don't know how , exploitative political and economic systems like democracy, monarchy, dictatorship, capitalism, communism and godless ideologies and unethical way of life like secularism and any other isms can be defeated without a khilafah. Khilafah is the only solution for not only uniting Muslims but the ills of all mankind.

If you are still in doubt then ponder on this scenario. Did Abu Jahil get angry and became the staunched enemy of Islam merely because Prophet Muhammad SAWS offered Salah to one ilah or his main concern with Islam was that it challenged Abu Jahil's exploitative economic, political and social system on which he and other leaders of quraish were thriving because their caravans were protected as the guardians of haram. And they got all the dirhams and dinars which the pilgrims would offer to their false gods. So if, there are no false gods, then the dirhams and dinars which the quraish was exploiting would stop coming. Hence, this resulted in Quraish becoming the staunchest enemies of their own kinsmen.

Update

I have visited the link and read the question and the response.

My only question to those who say that Khilafah is not the goal is:

Tablighi Jamaat have been here for around 90+ years.
Madaris and Khanqas of Deoband have been here for around 150+ years.

Have they reached and changed the lives of all the muslimeen or the majority of the muslimeen of this ummah?

Leave the whole ummah. Have they even reached Muslims of the whole subcontinent or even India or Pakistan yet? Have they succeeded in transforming their lives? Have they succeeded in stopping zina, music, haram earnings, corruption, nepotism, egocentricity and other vices of the society?

Brother, our goal is NOT to establish Khilafah - Tawheed is the goal - Khilafat will come naturally when Tawheed is established. Maybe I'm not making it clear

And you mean to say that we can reach and appreciate tauheed under democracies and man made laws.

The command (or the judgement) is for none but Allaah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him (i.e. His Monotheism); that is the (true) straight religion, but most men know not”

ibadah is not limited to masjid alone. ibadah is for 24 hours and is connected with every aspect of a person's life individually as well as for a community collectively.

I am still thinking , with installation of khalifah, how 10s of crores will start offering Salah regularly. Piety is established in millions who can't recite kalimah.

And why should we wait for an impossible dream to come true.

Tabligh, madaris, khanqah didn't wait for khilafath to do their job assigned by Allah to them. Nor they wait for khilafath to improve their activities.

But if your very far and impossible dream comes true, then you can't move an inch with out them.

To know how Ummah got benefited by Tabligh and Madaris, you have to go 50 years back, sit and hear from your grandpas, whichever country you may be living in.
OR
visit countries and places where the migrants didn't carry Tabligh and Madaris with them and witness it yourselves.
There is a country where 1.8 million officially recorded Arabs have moved as migrants, from Phalestine, Lebanon etc. You can't find them now. Mass Irtedad.

There are many such countries in present world.

Look brother! I will ask you some questions and try to make my point clear.

1. How did the British end our rule in India?

a. Through dawah
b. Through slogans
c. Through telling us the virtues of democracy
d. Through deceit and then force.

2. After they took hold of our country, what did they do to control our minds?

a. They sent missionaries (did those missionaries succeed at large)
b. Wrote books against Islam and Indians
c. Removed our education system and established their own secular education system to indoctrinate us.

3. Could they conquer us if there was no British Empire?
4. Could they successfully brainwash us without first demolishing our rule and could they spread their mindset without establishing a new education system with the help of state apparatus which they controlled?

Do you know what Tayyip Erdagon has been doing after coming to power. Along with economic development he is establishing Imam Hatip Schools at a very large scale so that the next generation becomes Islamicized.

My question is that could Tayyib Erdagon establish Imam Hatip schools so quickly at such a large scale if he would not be in the government and if he had had no state resources?

Do you know what Kamal Ata Turk did when he seized the reigns from the last caliph. He secularized all the state institutions including education. He destroyed the madaris. Murdered the ulema. And changed the Turkish script so that people would get disconnected from the past and traditional Islam and get secularized.

My question is that could Mustafa Kamal do such things in great measures without first seizing control of the Turkish state?

I am not denying the importance of Dawah and Education. However, what I am trying to say is that if state resources backs up dawah and education along with it's law enforcement apparatus then reformation of the ummah at larger scale will accelerate.

History is telling us that those ideologies which are not backed up by force can't survive the tides of time. They are mere theories and words and nothing else. History is also telling us that the Sahaba RA spread Islam through sword at deeni level and through dawah, honest trade and good conduct at religious level.

So what I have concluded is that there are two main stages of the Islamic revolution.

1. Creation, education and tazkiyah of a jamat of pious and brave Muslims through dawah, ilm and tazkiyah. This jamaat will be the creative minority of this ummah. You may call them the 313 brigade. However, we must consider this in mind that neither Sahaba RA will come out of their graves now and nor we need men who are at their standard. There is no such thing like perfect Muslim. Everyone has defects and this jamaat will certainly have defects. However, they should be strong in their fundamentals. If the fundamentals of Islam are strong then well and good.

2. This Jamaat will establish khilafah through jihad under the leadership of Imam Mahdi who will then spread the khilafah and thus whole of the ummah and rest of the mankind will benefit from this khilafah. (When the state itself will support dawah, tazkiyah, ilm and jihad then the tazkiyah and tarbiyah of the whole ummah will accelerate).

Finally I would like to ask.

Why didn't Prophet Muhammad SAWS remain limited to tabligh, ilm and tazkiyah and what was the need of 10,000 sahaba ra to conquer Makkah?

Was Prophet Muhammad SAWS not Rahmatulil Alameen before the conquest of Makkah? What made the Arabs realize suddenly that Prophet Muhammad SAWS has brought the truth and He is mercy to the mankind. So we should embrace what he has brought. What was it that made group after group of mushrikeen to embrace Islam? What was it? Is it not clear that when Prophet Muhammad SAWS showed mercy as the conqueror and ruler of the capital of Arab (Makkah), the silent majority got affected and embraced Islam?

After his demise, when in the time of Caliph Abu Bakr RA, when some people stopped paying zakah. Did Caliph Abu Bakr RA send a jamaat of sahaba RA to tell the virtues of zakah to those who were not paying it or as ruler of the state, did he use force and did qitaal with those who refused to uphold one of the basic pillars of Islam?

Did khulafa e Rashidoon and the Muslim monarchs after them sent jamaats of dawah to far away lands in order to spread Islam or did they conquer those lands? I am not denying the effort of aulia and those who did dawah, but could dawah alone make such a large number of followers of Islam or was state control also necessary to show the complete and true picture and blessings of deen and shariah?

Effects of Rulers on their Nations

The following is a rough translation of a passage taken from the first volume of the book titled “Tarikh e Dawat o Azeemat” by Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi Rh.

Apart from these outer manifestations of barakah (that is the result of establishment of a true Islamic government) people had a true inner and revolutionary change in their etiquettes and morals.

In the times of King Waleed of Ummayad Dynasty, when people would gather, they would talk about buildings and architecture because Waleed was himself fond of buildings.

In the times of Suleman (Waleed’s brother and heir to his throne) when ever people would gather, they would talk about luxurious foods and women because Suleman was fond of them.

However, in the times of Umar bin Abdul Aziz Rh, people would talk about nawafil, dhikr, learning of Quran and deen etc.

So rulers have a direct impact on their populace.
