The US House of Representatives on Friday voted to pass legislation allowing the families of victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks to sue the government of Saudi Arabia for damages, despite a warning from the White House that it would veto the measure if passed.

The Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA)", which would permit US courts to take action against the Saudi leadership and hold them legally liable for any role in the 9/11 attacks, was passed unanimously by the US Senate in May.

The vote comes just three days before the fifteenth anniversary of the attacks, in which 2,996 people were killed.

The White House on Friday reiterated that President Barack Obama would veto the bill. A presidential veto could be overridden if the bill is still supported by a required two-thirds of both the Republican-majority Congress and Senate.

The Obama administration has lobbied against the bill arguing that the legislation would put Americans at legal risk overseas. Washington has also warned of the possibility of major diplomatic and economic fallout with the Saudis if the legislation passes.

The proposed legislation could allow American courts to freeze US assets held by the Saudis, prompting the possibility of a major sell-off by the Saudis before the bill is passed.

The suspected involvement of Saudi Arabia in the attacks was never proven but 15 of the 19 plane hijackers were Saudi nationals.

Republican lawmakers have demanded the Obama administration release a top secret 28-page report that allegedly shows Saudi Arabia directly helped to finance the September 11 attacks in New York in 2011.

The blacked-out pages were classified under the instruction of George W. Bush, leading to speculation they confirmed Saudi involvement.

The 28 pages are thought to include a claim that Princess Haifa, the wife of then Saudi ambassador Prince Bandar, sent money to the hijackers.

Earlier this year, the theory of Saudi involvement was revisited when a former operative for al-Qaida, a man described as the 20th 9/11 hijacker, described prominent members of Saudi Arabia's royal family as major donors to the terrorist network in the late 1990s,

In response, the Saudi Embassy said that the national September 11 commission in 2004 had already rejected allegations that the Saudi government or Saudi officials had funded al Qaida.

Some lawmakers and victims groups accuse both the Obama and Bush administrations of covering up the full extent of Saudi Arabia's involvement in the deadly attacks on September 11 to protect US-Saudi relations.

Let us hope that Court finds guilty and orders breaking all relations with gulf. And withdraws selling of arms to gulf.

That would be good for gulf.

as for why did they attack afghanistan, they needed an excuse to attack taliban and possible formation of anything resembling a caliiphate, bush himself said in an interview the main reason attacking afghanstan was to stop a revival of a 7th century caliphate

finally regardless if saudi is sued or not the shamless ale saud wil still be slaves and loyal american poodles,

US judiciary shall pass the judgement that

1. US shall not help the Arabs in fighting against tyrant rulers.

2. And it shall not help Arab rulers to protect them from violent countrymen.

3. It shall not intervene in fight against Iran or Israel.

That charity shall stop.

As a byproduct That will help Arabs to get self sufficient.

Then there are other possibilities.

Japan should seriously start thinking of suing the US for Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The native Americans should sue the present US government.

Vietnam should sue US.

So should Iraq.

Russia too should sue the US for what they did to the USSR using the Afghan Mujahideen.

Cases can also be made by Algerians for sabotaging of democracy there by the US via Algerian military. Syria at the moment has the biggest case. Libya should not be left behind.

The possibilities are almost endless.

Clearly none of these are going to be a reality.

Yet something can be done. Done by us.

The do-able thing is to make an academic case for each of the above mentioned issues. US can not escape that.

come on guys stop getting excited. we all know very well these kind of laws only work in favour of the white west. i remember a few years ago the question came up should UK apologies for the slave trade and all the white people, politicians, media outlets went crazy effing and blinding yet the same people have no problems about jews getting an apology and compensation for the holocaust

obama been humiliated. congree and HoR vetoed his decision. wonder what saudis will do now. Also with all the anti muslin rhetoric trump been saying I wonder if saudis will still be americas slave if he comes to power or will they come to their senses
