A common mistake in replying to salaam is the fatha, instead of a damma in وَ عَلَيكُمُ ٱلسَّلَام (Wa 'alaykumUSsalam not Wa 'alaykumASsalam)

i thought the purpose was brevity...

but every time some brothers get a few dislikes on a post of theirs, they have to call people out and make them seem cowardly...maybe someone just wanted to show that your opinion is not universal without getting into an argument.
