Assalam alaykum,

The Noble Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless and greet him, once asked Jibreel, peace be upon him:--

"Jibreel, how old are you?". The angel replied, " Ya Rasulullah, I do not know how old I am, but I do
know that in the Fourth Covering (hijab), I saw a star shine every 70,000 years, and I saw this 72,000
times".

The Prophet, peace be upon him, then said, "By the honour of Allah, Azza Wa Jallah, I was that star". [Roohul Bayaan, vol.1 pg.974].
With this, we can authoritatively conclude that the Noor (Light) of the Prophet, peace be upon him, was created before anything else. He came before angels, humans, the earth and whatever else lies within all of creation.

ALLAHUMMA SALLI, WASALLIM ALAA SAYYIDINA MUHAMMADIN, WA ALAA AHLIHI, WA ASHABIHI AJMA'EEN.

Is there more on this narration, I think I've heard Mufti Abdur Raheem Limbada talk about this but I can't remember the talk that well.

"The first thing created by Allah was the pen, then, He ordered it to write, so it wrote everything that will happen till the Day of Judgment." (narrated by At-Tirmidhi, Abu-Dawud, and Ahmad)

I heard some hadiths as well that the first things Allah created are pen, guarded tablet, water, Throne ....

Assalam alaikum,
My topic above on "Jibreel And The Shining Star" has drawn 7 comments so far. I feel that I should offer some clarification in view of those comments/remarks, and observe that Jibreel's observations, Peace be upon him, on the shining star he saw 72,000 times is explained/clarified by the famous Hadith of Jabir Ibn Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, quoted in the Sahihayni and other Hadith sources, where Jabir Ibn Abdullah said to the Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam:--

" O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, tell me of the first thing Allah created
before all things. He said, "O Jabir, the first thing Allah created was the Light of your Prophet from His Light,
and that light remained (lit. "turned") in the midst of His power for as long as He wished, and there was not,
at that time, a Tablet or a Pen or an earth. And when Allah wished to create creation, He divided that Light into
four parts and from the first made the Pen, from the second the Tablet, from the third the Throne, [and from
the fourth everything else]."

Granted, there are and/or could be variations on the above narrations among scholars, but whatever the variations it is agreed that the Noble Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, being a Mercy to all, is linked to the fact that he is the intermediary of the Divine outpouring over all contingencies--ie all created things without exception. Wallahu Ta'ala A'alam.

My best wishes.

This Hadith was quoted by many scholars

I'd like to add a few things here.

Number 1 and the most important point. It's not important we know what was created first because there are different verses of the Quran and different Hadith. So we should leave the matter as it is. Knowing what came first won't make us any stronger in Imaan, unless you are barelwi.

Secondly, the narration isn't in one of the 6 books so the Salafi claim that it's fabricated.

The narration has allegedly been mentioned by senior Deobandi ulama..

Finally, I'm not rejecting nor fully accepting the narration as I'll leave that in the knowledge of Allah. BUT, if my maths is any good, (which is not) then the numbers mentioned in the narration given, adds up to approximately 5 billion years and according to scientific research, the earth is 4.7 billion years old! So either we can say yes the numbers are correct or that someone has taken the numbers and made something up. Or the Hadith is correct and the scientific research coincides with Islam.

ALLAH KNOWS BEST.......

First of all: who from amongst the Deobandi scholars have narrated the hadith? Name them please.

Even if its narrated, it still does not make any difference. The hadith is clearly fabricated as mentioned by al-Ghumari in murshid al-haa'ir. It is nothing but a lie on the Prophet. There is NO sanad.

Same goes for the hadith of nur. Even if Ml. Thanwi narrated it, the hadith is a fabrication since the musannaf is now published.

AssalamuAlaikum brothers and sisters,

I have read all the posts including the one from the respected scholarly brother, claiming that Prophet was a shining star at some point!

I must say that brother Ansari, personally I do not know him, seems more reasonable and correct. Alhamdulillah, I have studied from the Brelvi and Deobandi Ulema and I must acknowledge that both schools hold 6 books of Hadith to be of the highest merit, as the rest of the Islam does. (FYI: this Hadith of SHINING star is not found in them)!!!
Also, Sunniforum and many other websites of the SUNNI scholars have refuted this report.

For example, the book Murshid Al-Haair مرشد الحائر, has the most strict wordings of the scholars. The scholar in this book is NOT a salafi or wahabi one and yet he was very honest and truthful to his knowledge.
Here is what he said: "وهذا كذب قبيح ، قبّح الله من وضعه وافتراه" ":وقال الشيخ عبد الله بن محمد بن الصديق الغماري رحمه الله "
"This is a very bad lie made up and may the wrath of Allah be on the one who started this lie (on prophet Muhammad saw)", Page 5 of the book.

Dear brothers, let us not be among those who Prophet warned to reserve a place in hell fire (any one who makes a lie on him).
I mean that let us not make and/ or spread lies on our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw). If we truly love him, we better spread ONLY what he TRULY said, not our assumptions, not what sheikhs randomly quote, not what we may think.. let us share ONLY facts about our Beloved...Only if we LOVE him.

Thanks a lot for allowing me to share what I knew, and Allah knows the best. واللہ اعلم۔۔

Maulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri (rahmatullahi 'alayh) quoted the hadith of Jabir Ibn Abdillah رضي الله عنه and stated that the Hadith of the Noor of Rasulullah salallahu'alayhi wasallam prevails over the Hadith of Tirmidhi (i.e about the pen). [Malfudhaat Al Kashmiri 182]
