The prophet (Sallallahu'alayhi wasallam) was sent down as a mercy for the whole of mankind. He was sent with the mission of bringing light to a darkened world, guidance to a lost world and peace to a suffering nation.
Insha'allah in this thread I hope to discuss the attributes of the prophet which makes him the best of creation, the best of teachers and most of all a mercy to the universe.
What is it about the prophet(Sallallahu'alayhi wasallam) that makes him the best example for mankind?

When we look at the life of the prophet (Sallallahu'alayhi wasallam) we realise one thing. The prophet (Sallallahu'alayhi wasallam) didn't have it easy. He lost both his parents at a very young age and as time went on went through more and more difficulty.
When the prophet began preaching Islam and spreading the word of Allah, he was one man against the world. The only companion he had was his lord, Allah. Very few people accepted Islam at the beginning with the majority turning against him. Surprisingly, amongst those who turned against him was his own flesh and blood. His uncle, Abu Jahl became Islams worst enemy and did not hold back when it came to advancing against his own nephew.
Yet the prophets reaction is one of greatness. With patience, he continued to preach, he trusted Allah and he knew that guidance is with Allah alone. Never did he exchange violence with violence. Abu Jahl would publicly try to humiliate the prophet, yet the prophets response was never one of violence.

If we look at how the prophets uncle, Hazrat Hamza was martyred astagfirullah! Hazrat Hamza wasn't just murdered, his insides were torn out, his body mutilated and a necklace was made of his nose and ears.
Years down the line, the very women who committed this crime, Hind, came in the presence of the prophet to accept Islam. The prophet could've ordered her execution, the prophet could have chosen for her a punishment, but instead? The prophet (Sallallahu'alayhi wasallam) said, you have been forgiven, but from this day forth, please do not come in front of me Subhanallah!
The prophets patience and perseverance was on another level. Our reaction would have been on a different extreme altogether!
Allah grant us sabr, aafiyah and nearness to him for without Allah we are nothing.
Ameen

If we look at the loss of the prophet Subhanallah it makes us realise how weak we are in our iman.
When the prophet (Sallallahu'alayhi wasallam) began his mission, the main two people who stuck by him was his uncle Abu Talib and his beloved wife, Hazrat Khadija. They became two pillars for the prophet, standing up for him in his time of need, protecting him against those who detested the message brought by our nabi and comforting him in his times of worry.
Then in a year known a the year of sorrow, Abu Talib and Hazrta Khadija both passed away. How hard this day must have been for him. How hard it must have been to pick himself up, and continue this mission from Allah and subhanallah today we reap the fruits of the prophets perseverance and strength. At that moment he could have given up, but he knew he had a mission, he knew if he gave up now there would be no hope for mankind.
Through sorrow and grief, distress and pain, the prophet (Sallallahu'alayhi wasallam)'s trust in Allah never faded. This is one of the many reasons as to why he is the best of examples to follow.
Allah grant us all the ability to follow the prophet (Sallallahu'alayhi wasallam)'s footsteps. Ameen.

The prophet (Sallallahu'alayhi wasallam) was the best of examples for a number of reasons. His fairness, attitude and ways of dealing with others is one to read about. The prophet (Sallallahu'alayhi wasallam) taught us to be fair, and equal regardless of the status or rank in the eyes of the people. Today we find someone may be looked at to be higher hence we bend the rules for them, however, someone who is not looked at so highly, Allah forgive us we treat them the complete opposite!
An incident occurred during the life of the prophet, where a woman called fatima, from a very noble tribe had stolen something. Knowing the punishment is islam was to cut off her hand, they assumed their status and nobility would persuade the prophet to ease the punishment.
So they called a sahabah they knew the prophet loved a lot, Zaid Ibn Harithah, and requested for him to intercede on behalf of their daughter. They thought by sending someone the prophet holds so close, perhaps The prophet (Sallallahu'alayhi wasallam) will show some mercy and through him, lessen the punishment for the noble woman.
When Zaid Bin Harithah went and make the request, the prophet became very upset and said Oh Zaid! If even my daughter Fatima had stolen I would have her hand cut off too!
Subhanallah! Today we find its the complete opposite! All we have to do, is open the books of seerah, read about the type of person the prophet was and understand where we are going wrong! Whether the person be a slave, royalty, family member, or friend, the book of Allah and the laws of Islam are equal for all.
Allah instill within us this characteristic of being just, and treating all people equally regardless of their colour, nationality or family lineage. Ameen
