Br. Ali,

You are right. In the end your abandonment is your personal choice and it does not affect the reliability of the book. However, your choice of its abandonment affects your reliability in regards to academic material. For, if you are willing to abandon the like of Adab al Mufrad, Mushkaat, Targheeb wa Tarheeb... soon you will also abandon Nasa'ii or Ibn Maja.

Instead, say that since you are not academically equipped to scrutinize hadith you choose not to delve into it yourself. Which is fine, but to use words like abandon, unreliable, dismiss etc. This is not within your scope as well, for you are not equipped to do that either. So when you actually do it, you only weaken your own reliability. This is to say, when you stand yourself in opposition of those great scholars who compiled or endorsed these hadith works [knowing well of whats in them]; then in this picture if your stature cannot absorb the heavy weight of their critique, you only stand to loose your own credibility.

I believe Hayatus Sahabah has already been reviewed by Maulana Ehsan ul Haq Sahib (db), so far it can be bought from Raiwind.

Even the Arabic version can be found from Raiwind.

Maulana Saeed Ahmed Khan Sahib رحمة الله عليه, khalifa of Shaykh ul hadith Maulana Zakariya Khandalvi رحمة الله عليه, adviced Maulana Tariq Jameel Sahib (db) to read this kitaab 11 times.

From the last 1440 years of Islam, please quote me 3 classical books on the same topic as Hayatus-Sahaba which are authentic in your opinion and which scholars have unanimously agreed to their authenticity? Please feel free to consult any Salafi, Deobandi, Ahl-e-Hadeeth, Barelwee etc scholar of your choice before responding. Also consult your local community for a response.
