There was once a sahabi who opened a shop.

The store expanded and business was booming.

The shop became very well known and many would shop there.

One morning when the shoppers arrived, the gates of the shop were closed and there was a huge padlock on the door.

A week later the situation was still the same.

Someone decided to find out why the shop was still not open.

They went to the house of the Sahabi and found the man to be in the best of states.

It did not look as if someone had passed away in the family or if the shopkeeper had been ill.

The sahabi explained that a week ago, a young boy had come to the shop crying with one of the shop items.

He had bought the wrong item and his mother had sent him back to exchange it.

The shopkeeper hugged the boy and wiped away his tears.

He said for 10 years he had been waiting for this day.

The reason was that he heard the Prophet (S.A.W) say "whosoever happily exchanges an item that a customer does not want will be granted a palace in Jannah"

From that day I opened my shop with the intention for a palace in Jannah and now I have achieved this I no longer need my business!

Suhanallah. What Imaan the Sahaabah Ikraam had. They had their priorities right; i.e. they yearned for Jannat and did not chase duniya, thus Allah T'aala made it easy for them to earn a living.

Subhanallah. Truly the sahabah lived only for the Aaakhirah and the pleasure of Allah. May Allah give us the ability to perform all our actions to gain the pleasure of our creator and attain high ranks in jannah.

Ameen
