Aisha (r.a) narrated the messenger of Allah (s.a..w) said:

"If someone tries to introduce into this faith of ours (Islam) something which is not part of it, it is to be rejected"

(Al Bukhari)

Lessons to be learnt:

1. The religion of Islam is built on submission and following, not invention and addition
2. Islam does not permit any innovation and Islam encourages holding fast to the sunnah
3. Any deed that is not in accordance with the sunnah will be rejected and no reward will be given for the doer of that deed

Abdullah رضي الله عنه reported that on one occasion Allah?s messenger Peace be upon him drew a line in the dust with his hand and said,

?This is the straight path of Allah?. Then he drew a series of line to the right and to the left of it and said, ?Each of these paths has a devil at its head inviting people to it?. He then recited, ?Verily this is my straight path so follow it and do not follow the twisted path (surah al Anam: 163)?.

The messenger of Allah (saw) said

?I am leaving you two things and you will never go astray as long as you hold fast to them. The book of Allah and my sunnah?

Narrated the companinons of the prophet that the prophet (saw) said:

Some people of my companions will arrive at the ciztern of my Haud (pool) but they will be turned away (from it). So I will say: O Lord! They are my Companions. He will say: You don't know what heterodoxy they made after (your death), and reverted.
