As-Salaam alaikum,
In Sunan Tirmidhi is the Noble Hadith where the Noble Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, is asked: 'Where was Allah before the creation of the Universe?' He replied: 'He was in the 'Ama.' it goes on to say that it had no aboveness or belowness. In other words it was a primordial non-spatiality in non-time.

Sayyadina Ali, may Allah ennoble his face, was asked the same question and after a long silence he said: 'To ask where was Allah is to ask of a place. Now Allah was- but there was no space. Then He created time and space and He is now as He was before time/space.
Note: 'Ama (incomprehensible)

Narrated Waki' bin Hudus: from his uncle Abu Razin who said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Where was our Lord before He created His creation?' He said: 'He was (above) the clouds - no air was under him, no air was above him, and He created His Throne upon the water.'"

Ahmad [bin Mani'] said: "Yazid bin Harun said (regarding) the air - 'It means there was nothing with him."

Ibn Majah

Waki' bin Hudus narrated that his paternal uncle Abu Razin said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, where was our Lord before He created His creation?' He said: He was above the clouds, below which was air, and above which was air and water. Then He created His Throne above the water.'"
