As-Salaam alaikum,
It is related on the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:--
"BEWARE OF THE INTUITION [Firasa] OF A BELIEVER, FOR THE BELIEVER SEES WITH
THE LIGHT OF ALLAH." [Tirmidhi: 3127].
Through the purity of heart, which is the fruit of constant Zikr and heeding, it quite often happens that a Sufi is able to perceive obscure spiritual truths. A branch of KASHF or Spiritual vision is known as intuition or FIRASA... mentioned in this Hadith. The 'Light of Allah' mentioned refers directly to the purity of heart, which results from remembrance, Zikr and heedfulness/Taqwa.
A heart is like a mirror, we need to keep polishing it and remaining in the company of one's shaykh. A time comes when colour starts to take place. Hazrat Lahori رحمة الله عليه used to say it takes 'mudat' to at least have some changes in the spirituality. The word 'mudat' means long time or ages.
Hazrat Baylawi رحمة الله عليه used to give reference of Hazrat Lahori رحمة الله عليه and mention that:
Hazrat Lahori رحمة الله عليه used to say that that once a mureed stayed with a buzurg for 8-10 years. Then he said Hazrat I got no benefit from you, so give me permission [to leave]...the intention was that to show that you can not do my islah. Hazrat رحمة الله عليه took of his topi and put it on mureed's head. And told him to go to the market to buy some things, when he came back he was shocked when asked he said 'Hazrat رحمة الله عليه how can I bring the items? whenever I would go to a shop I would see in some sitting dogs, monkeys and pigs. There are animals everywhere. Then Hazrat رحمة الله عليه told him to go to other market, same was the condition but he told I saw one insan who I bought these item from.
Then Hazrat said to look at your own self, when he saw himself he saw half human and half other creature. Hazrat رحمة الله عليه said, be thankful that you stayed with me here and attained half insaniyat.
what the mureed saw was through the barkat of the topi. When he would see the animals its as due to the animal qualities that were over them.

Hazrat Shaykh [Hazrat Shaykh ul Hadith Maulana Zakarya Khandalvi رحمة الله عليه] stated: 'This occurred in my very early childhood. My dear Uncle (Hazrat Maulana Ilyas Sahib, the Reviver of the Tableeghi Work) was in the full bloom of youth. He was very enthusiastic about exerting himself in Mujahidah in the path of Sulook (the spiritual Path). There was a water pump in Gangoh behind the Khanqaah-e-Quddusiya. He would sit cross-legged with eyes closed, on a straw math in deep meditation.
I had just started Persion lessons under him. I would read the Kitaab and if he wished to say something he would gesture with his finger. If the text were not understood then the Kitaab would be closed. I have already explained my father's method of teaching. The pupil's task was to solve the solve and the Ustaadh's task was to listen carefully.
During those days, my Uncle told me, 'If you an adopt total silence for six months, I will make you a wali (saint)'
'Seal the mouth, eyes and ears,
If you still do not see the Truth, then consider me mad.'
Maulana Rumi رحمة الله عليه
Practice on these three you will see the Reality. [end Quote]
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
