Hi. This is my first post here. I am going to a wedding and am gifting the bride and groom a frame with poems written on it. I was wondering if anyone knows of any islamic marriage quotes that i can add instead. Thank you

Salam,

There's some really tallented writers on the this forum. I'm sure they can write a few little lines themselves for you. Nice idea for a gift too.

Wassalam

Long may you both live

Also,

One of my favourites:

A HAPPY MARRIAGE RECIPE

3 cups Love 4 spoons Hope

2 cups Warmth 2 spoons Tenderness

1 cup Forgiveness 1 pint Faith

1 cup Friends 1 barrel Laughter

Combine love and warmth. Mix thoroughly with tenderness.

Add forgiveness

Blend with friends and hope. Sprinkle all remaining tenderness

Stir in faith and laughter

Bake with sunshine. Serve daily with generous helpings.

And last but not least:

To her virtues be very kind,

To her faults be a little blind!

I love you,
I love you,
I love you I do,
but don't get excited,
I love myself too much!

just joking, not an ideal gift!

i know you weren't interested in poems but there was an urdu poem recited by an alimah at one of the monthly sisters conference in Leytonstone (as advertised in the events section), it was a pretty funny one and pretty interesting, if any users were present and heard it, if they either have a copy or know how to obtain it, it would be excellent if they could post it up here as it would make a good read.

no 1 liners but something a bit more suitable, then the above!

THE MARITAL SHIP

Marriage is like a sailing ship,
Sometimes it rocks from side to side,
Sometimes it shakes under the lightening,
And sometimes it just gets soaked in the rain,
But most of the time it floats swiftly and elegantly
across the oceans and sea's,
Experiencing all of Allah's swt's gifts of natural beauty,
All we have to do is enjoy the sun when it shines,
Be patient when the hailstones pelt down upon us
Persevere with the long seasons of rain
And ignore the flaws of the sailing ship which is just a means
Of
transport to help us reach the shore of
Our Most Beloved and Benevolent Allah!

Assalamualaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu

Taalibah, lol, Subhanallah nice to know summin was remembered from the conference.

Heres the Urdu poem u heard @ Leytonstone. BEFORE MARRIAGE: "Taqdeer hai magar kismat nahi khulti, Tajmahal banana chahta hoon, leykin mumtaz nahi milti.

AFTER MARRIAGE: "Taqdeer hai magar kismat nahi khulti, Tajmahal banana chahta hoon leykin mumtaz nahi murti!

Personaly I dont think these choice of words are a good idea, to be givven on a wedding day, alternatively u could have Quran and hadeeth quotes or a masnoon dua written and put in a frame, regarding marriage.

The next sisters conference Date: Sunday 20th August 2006

Time: 2:30pm - 5:30pm

hope to see u there inshaallah

Wassalam

I wrote your name in the sky,
but the wind blew it away.
I wrote your name in the sand,
but the waves washed it away.
I wrote your name in my heart,
and forever it will stay.

A stranger you were once.
Then, with a gentle look you took my hand.
As our lives engaged,
you lit my life and I held both your hands.
Now that days have passed,
ours souls have indeed become one.
How fortunate we are that we have
found the love so true that everyone dreams about.

jazakallah khair Guest (vora) enjoyed listening to the poetry just what i wanted something for the archives i think, also nice reminder of the conference, there was also another poem recited, along the lines of when a girl gets married she sheds tears, but after she marrys the husband sheds tears, not ideal material for this post but if possible i would like to read the poem.
