Once a Hakeem (doctor) whilst answering call of nature in the toilet pondered about usefulness of the faeces worm, as there appeared to be no apparent benefit in its creation .
Within a few days of this thought arising, the Hakeem turned blind. Terrified, he tried many remedies but to no avail. Coincidentally, another Hakeem specialising in eye diseases arrived in town. The blind Hakeem visited this specialist, who prescribed some eye medicine.
Within a short while Hakeem was miraculously cured. Amazed, he enquired from the eye specialist the core ingredient of this eye medicine. He was surprised to be informed that it was the faeces worm! Upon hearing this reply, Hakeem was jolted into alertness and concluded: ' I have been Divinely reprimanded for considering a created being (the faeces worm) as useless!'
Moral: All creation has been created by Allah Ta'ala for some specific purpose and function, even though we are unable to fathom the reason thereof.
Allah Ta'ala says in the Qur'aan: "And Allah has created you and your needs...
…Who has created seven heavens in harmony. You will not see in the Creation of the Most Gracious any disparity, so turn your vision again. Do you see any rupture? Then your vision again, a second time, your vision will return to you dull and in a state of fatigue."
