Agreed we must respect the Ulama, but by graduating and being called Maulana does that automatically makes you from the Ulama who deserve being placed on the pedastal? Anyhow that's a different topic.

Brother this happened many years ago more than a decade ago. With regards to him telling me that two 7 year old girls fancied him well although it was a strange comment is it enough for me to go to the madrasah and report him for saying that? Also he left the madrasah on his own accord as he saw the 2 girls as fitna. Now I was young back then but still the details are such that I guess he was fighting his nafs and did not actually commit a sin. Still I would be uncomfortable with him teaching my daughter and dealing with children but is the above action enough for me to report him? I had another run in with a rapist. He was a normal kind of guy but what got me a bit alert was once I was driving and he was in the passenger seat next to me. So I was driving and I was talking and then I noticed through the corner of my eye that he was eyeing something. He then says to me look at that lady she is pregnant. Basically this guy was a pervert and until then I had no idea of it. Now I thought that is a bit strange some guy pointing out to me that some lady is pregnant. Anyway within a short time he was convicted of rape. The point is you figure out somebody is weird, perverted etc but what action can a person take unless there is clear cause for concern? With regards to your points brother I do agree with you that such things are a major issue. Like at this moment in time there is 1 famous scholar who I strongly suspect of behaving inappropriately with women. The problem is I have no clear cut proof and just a few things hear and there. Also I am not the investigative type so what can I do? So I am in agreement with you on these issues but feel like it is very negative to bring the ulema into discussion. Let us classify such people as perverts etc and not associate them with ilm.

You found that strange? You must have lots of pious friends :D . On a serious acting like a pervert or gay is the norm for lots of Muslims males. Allah save us all.

Yes definitely such remarks, by an individual would be sufficient to raise alarm bells suffiecient enough to report him, so that individuals can be protected from him...!

We have to also reflect in the time we live in, individuals who would have never dreamed of for example watching pornography, have a direct access via a click of the button. So the chances of 'perverts' emerging within our communities is far greater, and we need to be more vigilant and have greater checks and balances.

No one is generalising about Ulemah...but naturally if the sexual predator is an Alim and in a position of trust because of his position, people are going to refer to him by his profession. In the same manner if the sexual predator happens to be a doctor, then the individual will be referred to as doctor...(And there have been many issues of predatory behaviour in medical profession as well)

Yes, this is the problem brother. How does one actually differentiate? Also how does one avoid being overly suspicious etc. Like my son goes to a qari's house. The qari is a very muttaqi person mashallah but I still want to be there as I want to make sure the child is ok and the child is more comfortable with me around. Is that being too cautious or is that perfectly fine. Also until which age should I keep on doing this? I think the basic rule is that a child should not be left alone with a male adult. Girls are especially vulnerable.

How about this maulana who I strongly suspect of doing stuff with his female students but I have no proof currently that is concrete enough.

(1) It would depend on what your suspicions are based on.

(2) Is the Shaykh who gave khilafat to the Maulana still alive.

(3) Is This Maulana based in a western country or the Sub-continent, the available options to deal with the issue might be different.

It may be worth noting here that Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi Rh had a policy; any teacher caught even teaching a non-baaligh student in isolation would be excluded on the spot.

this could be a nefarious scheme of the jews and christians who by levelling false charges want to malign the image of ulemas in the mind of muslims ?
The repercussions of all this will be that people would not trust ulemas and avoid sending their kids to madrassas.
This type of thing has happened in the past. Remember soviet union ?

By labeling every act, as a Zionist, and free masonic conspiracy against muslims is in itself, counter productive..! Having read the statements issued by Council of Islamic Organisations Of Greater Chicago. It is quite clear there is no conspiracy, and the above organisation has distanced themselves from him, and are implying the evidence is compelling.

Having said that, the accused Maulana has yet to go to trial and has not been convicted...! So we should exercise caution until the trial takes place.

Thing is rape is rape and should be treated as such. It is now ripe in all communities. But for a scholar to do it is unacceptable. The biggest problem is that there is a whole herd of sheep out there that feels it okay to do such things. We need to rid of this mentality what was the woman doing there. That does not make anything acceptable. If a naked woman was to walk by we would become sinful of giving a second glance so why does that permit rape in the mind of some individuals.

The maligning of the ulama happens with the media attention that follows. Not everything can be blamed on others.
