On Success.

Julaybib wrote:

Shaykh Saleem, was appointed as the Imaam of a Masjid in a small rural town every evening after asr he would announce to the small congregation to remain behind for his lectures on Bukhari, yet very few people would attend. Somedays no one would remain in his gatherings.

Yet the Shaykh would deliver his lecture as usual in an audible voice, in an empty Masjid. Someone asked him; " Shaykh everyday you deliver a lecture and more often then not their is no one to listen to your lecture, the people are heedless, they have no interest in learning religious knowledge, why do you continue to deliver the lectures when you know people are not going to turn up."

The Shaykh replied; " My son the Knowledge I am departing is a trust from Allah, I have a duty to convey it. If People are not attending my gatherings then I say Alhamdulillah, and if large numbers start to attend my gatherings then I will still say Alhamdulillah.

"For the person who is enchanted by the large numbers in his audience is prone to pride, sincerity demands one to do the work of deen purely for the sake of Allah, and to never give up or become disheartened.

" If Allah wills, then people shall come in droves; for no task be it wordily or religious can be accomplished in a day, one should strive patiently purely for the sake of Allah."

It so happened that within a few years the gatherings of Shaykh Saleem, started drawing thousands of People.

The Shaykh one day spoke to the same man and said; " Now do you see the Grace of Allah, he kept me steadfast, if I had quit or given up in those early days, you would not be seeing the sight that is before your eyes.

"My son when you decide on a task be it wordily or religious patiently stick with it, be like the owner of an orchard who plants a seed, watering and paying attention to it for years until one day it grows, by the grace of Allah, into a magnificent tree, ready to bear fruit."

Just A thought;

How many amongst us never accomplish anything in life because they quit or gave up at the first hurdle. they are good at starting a task but never completing it. Whether it is a college course, or obtaining religious knowledge. Whether it is an exercise regime or some other pursuit.

Here are some motivational quotes.

" If you are seeing obstacles you are losing sight of your goal."

" A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step".

" True success only full yields its reward when a person refuses to quit."

" Self belief is everything Impossible is nothing."

"Where there is life there is hope."

" To accomplish any task you need the Skill and the will, the will must always be stronger then the skill."

May Allah give us the tawfiq to accomplish all our Pursuits, and protect us from sorrow and anxiety, fear and laziness ameen.

P.S. I humbly request your duas.

True Love.

Julaybib wrote:

A student of Knowledge came to Shaykh Saleem, and complained about his condition, he was suffering from extreme poverty, and he was inflicted with illness, the Shaykh listened intently for a while, and finally he spoke. " My Brother you are suffering, because your heart is devoid of true love."

"How so?", asked the man bewildered by the Shaykhs remark. Shaykh Saleem
responded; " Does a Lover ever complain about his Beloved ? Nay the Lover finds pleasure in what ever his Beloved demands of him, his heart is immersed in love, he does not care about his own condition.

" If such is the case of the lovers of this world then what should be the condition of the Lovers of Allah?

"My Brother the true lovers of Allah, find pleasure in Allahs decree, they never complain; Allah fills their hearts with peace and tranquility. Know that if you are Suffering from poverty, that in itself may be a great blessing. Many a Man has been destroyed by his lust for wealth, he becomes prey to his own desires, the wealth gives him an opportunity to indulge in many sins, which he otherwise would not have been able to. His own Kith and Kin become jealous and envious of him. He May have the wealth to build many palaces yet he is deprived of peace and tranquility.

"If you are inflicted by illness then know that, it could be a great blessing, how many sins has your illness protected you from. A man in good health, may become a slave to his lusts and desires.Such a man ends up far removed from the deen. Whilst in illness the desires and lusts of such a man are diminished.

" A true Lover of Allah knows that whatever has been decreed, by Allah is for the best, he is content with whatever his lord wills. Allah in return blesses him abundantly. These trials of life last for a day or two, never lose hope and remember Allah is All Merciful, and many of the trials of life contain great blessings within them.

Something to Ponder

If we become happy with whatever Allah decrees for us then all our troubles will be removed. Often a misfortune is in itself a blessing.

For example a person arrives late at an Airport, and misses his flight, the business meeting he was due to attend would have helped him financially. He is extremely upset complains why me? why do i have the worst luck? Some hours later he switches on the radio and hears a news broadcast, the Plane he had been scheduled to catch has crashed all the Passengers have perished. He now realizes how fortunate he was to miss that flight.

One could quote many such example, If we are suffering from grief and Sorrow.
Then Maybe we should also examine ourselves and look at the condition our hearts. Are we true servants and Lovers of Allah.

May Allah guide and Protect us all Ameen.

P.S. I humbly requets your Duas.

Does the Lover disobey the beloved

Julaybib wrote:

You disobey Allah,
And yet you still claim to love him.
By Allah such behaviour is disgusting,

Something to comprehend:

True love is to Love and obey Allah, and act in accordance with his commands. Does the lover ever disobey the Beloved?

The Conscience Of A Thief.

Julaybib wrote:

This a story I heard many years ago , in an audio lecture by
Maulana Abdul Majeed Nadeem (Sahib)

During the time of the British Raaj in India their was an English officer going on a journey,
during his travel he stopped at a predominantly Muslim town, being friday he saw the muslims heading towards the Masjid to pray jumah; The English officer was mesmerised by the beauty of the mosque, so he decided to follow the Muslims towards the Masjid and have a look inside;

After finishing his tour of the mosque the English officer was about to catch a carriage to continue on his journey. As he was about to enter the carriage a little boy, came running up to him he said: "Excuse me sir you dropped your wallet, and handed it to him.

The Englishman being mightily pleased said: "Oh young man I thank you profusely what is your name". The boy responded I am known as 'Chor' meaning Thief. The Englishman being confused asked; "Why do they call you 'Chor' for you are very honest"

the boy said: " Sir they call me a 'Chor' because I make my living by robbing people ,today I was waiting out side the mosque for some muslims to come out, so that I could steal from their pockets, by chance you came out as you were putting on your shoes, your wallet fell out, when I looked inside the wallet I could not believe my good fortune, for it contained more money than I could make in Six months, of stealing.

As I was heading home a thought pricked my conscience, I said to myself when you steal from the Muslims only you are labeled a Thief, but if you steal from this Englishman, he will leave this town extremely angry, he will then say that these followers of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) are thieves,

If I am labeled a thief I am not bothered for it is true, but I could not tolerate the name of our Prophet (saw)and his entire Ummah, being defamed as a result of my actions; Therefore I decided to find you and return your wallet."

Something to ponder.

I think it is perhaps human nature, that people often judge others through their personal experience , If we have a bad experience concerning a person from a certain race, then we condemn everyone from that race, similarly if we have a bad experience with someone from a particular religious background, we hold prejudices concerning all people who follow that religion.

So the question is if the conscience of a young thief could not tolerate the name of the prophet (saw) being defamed as a result of his actions ,what has happened to our conscience, we have seen articles, and books being written attacking our prophet (saw). Has our behavior not at least partly, been responsible for the reaction of the non-muslims and in inculcating a hatred in them towards Islam.

May Allah Give us the Tawfiq to Live and act, as sincere Muslims and Lovers of our Beloved (Sallallahu alaiyhi wasallam) Ameen.

Someone approached Amir and asked what had made him so successful he replied. " with the Childhood I had what do you expect, the struggle to survive as a child gave me the drive and energy to succeed and made me stronger."

The same person approached Samir and asked what made him turn to drink and Alcohol he replied " With the childhood I had what do you expect, the only way i could cope was to turn to Alcohol and drugs."

Something to Ponder:

You may get Two people who have been through exactly the same experience one will be strengthened by it. The other might be destroyed by it.

So if Allah has protected us and made us stronger we should be grateful to him.

We should also realise that another person may have greater difficulty in coping
with a similar situation. We should not Brush them off and act dismissively towards them. Because it could easily have been us in that same situation and their shoes.

Also on the flip side, if we are afflicted with a calamity we must remember that their are many others who have gone through similar trials and tribulations and managed to overcome them.

May Allah bless us all with the wonderful gifts of Sabr and Shukr, ameen.

On Devotion.

Julaybib wrote:

Shaykh Saleem and His assistant Imran where doing some shopping in the Bazaar. They came across two street vendors selling freshly cooked stir fried rice With vegetables.

The first stall holder was an elderly man, with a long flowing white beard and a green skull cap on his head, he had a large queue of customers gathered around his stall. He had a large smile on his face and was happily chatting with the customers whilst at the same time carefully preparing the food.

The owner of the second stall was a younger man in his early Twenties, despite the fact his food was cheaper, he only had a handful of customers standing at his stall. He was haphazardly preparing the food, and he had a miserable look on his face.

Shaykh Saleem pointed to the two stall holders and said to Imran; " You notice these two food vendors one is very busy, and enjoying the fruits of his labor, whilst the other is struggling for business, the difference between them is that whilst they are both selling the same food, the old man, is devoted to his work he is doing it with love, he is carefully preparing the food and paying attention to his customers.

"Whilst the YoungerMan is seeing his work as a burden, and is lacking motivation in what he does."

The Shaykh further elaborated; " Imran whether you are striving for the wealth of this world or akhirah, success will only be achieved if you act like the Oldman.

"If you are lazy in your Studies and Ibaadah, then your energy will go to waist; your toiling and striving will be useless. However if you have devotion, pay due attention and do it with love and sincerity you will achieve high ranks, and obtain countless blessings."

Written By Julaybib.

Something to ponder.

How often are we lazy in our Ibaadah, and do it haphazardly, without any sincerity or devotion. whether we are striving for worldly or spiritual success, we will only achieve success if we have love and devotion, to what we are doing. A Lazy person who sees his religious or wordily chores, as a burden will achieve no success his toiling and Striving will be a total waist.

May Allah fill our Hearts with sincerity and Devotion ameen.

Words Of Qari Muhammad Hanif Multani

"A small affliction affects us and we start saying I don't know what sin I have committed to deserve this. Other then sin what do we do, from the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep, we are engaged in sin. our walking is sin, our talking is sin, our sitting, looking, hearing, and every other aspect of our daily lives, are nothing but sin.Yet we remain completely heedless".................................

Remembrance of Death By shaykh Zakariyahرضي الله عنه

Rabi bin Bazah (rahmatullahi alaihi) was an obedient servant who lived in Basrah.
He says: "A person was in the pangs of death.People reminded him to recite The
words "Laa ilaaha illalah", but instead these words were continuously coming out from his tongue..."Give me a glass of liquor and you also have a drink....Give me a glass of liquor and you also have a drink." Similarly a person in Ahwaaz was in the throes of death. People reminded him to recite "Laa ilaaha illalah", but instead he continuously said: " Ten rupees, eleven rupees, twelve rupees".

Mujaahid(rahmatullahi alaihi) says: " When death approaches a person the appearances of those he kept company with are showed to him.If he used to keep company with pious people they are shown to him otherwise he is shown his evil companions." THe very same thing is narrated from a sahaabi, Yazeed Bin Shajarah. (Radiyallahu Anhu).

May Allah give us all the tawfeeq to be grateful for his blessings and excercise patience at the time of trials, and may our end be in a state of Imaan ameen.

Service To Others.

Julaybib wrote:

Here Is a beautiful story taken from Fazail e sadaqat.

A'mash Sulaiman bin mehran رضي الله عنه, a renowned muhaddith says: " once I kept a goat which fell ill . Khaitamah bin Abdul Rahman رضي الله عنه used to visit me every morning and evening to enquire after it. Every time he came he would ask me , "How is your goat"? Your children might not be getting milk to drink?, he would put some money under the rug on which I used to be sitting, and say " here is something for your children." In this way, I received more than three hundred dinars, during the illness of my goat through the generosity of Khaithamah رضي الله عنه
and I wished my goat had never recovered.

Something to reflect:

Subhan'Allah our elders had this concept of brotherhood where the sick goat of a friend required regular visits.

We each and everyone of us is only concerned about our personal situation. In this day and age we do not even have time to offer a kind word to a fellow human being, let alone help relieve their distress. We debate about the Political situations, and the condition of Muslims around the World. We act as though we are going to solve the crisis of the Ummah, whilst in reality.
We are incapable of helping our friends, neighbors or relatives that maybe going through a crisis.

We are full of selfishness, and we also forget the tremendous blessings, that have been promised to those who help others.

I remember a scholar mentioning that if You are going through difficulties then help relieve the distress of others and Allah will remove your troubles. You will obtain countless Blessings, both in the Duniyah and the Akhirah.

May Allah guide us all and especially a sinner like me ameen.

On Determination.

Julaybib wrote:

Shaykh Saleem, narrated the following to a class of students; " When I was a Young Student the financial situation of My family was strained, so to help alleviate things I borrowed some money from friends and relatives, and purchased a Grocery store on the outskirts of the city of Ashkabad.

" However the Business would not run, and very few customers frequented my store. Most people went to the Main Bazaar to purchase their necessities. As the weeks went by I grew more and more despondent. My creditors wanted to know when i was going to repay them. So I gave up and sold My business only Two months after having Purchased it.

" It was then that I learned a very valuable lesson. The Person who purchased the store from me. did not wait around for customers to come to the store. instead what he did was visit every house in the locality and take orders directly from the Public. He would then deliver the goods directly to their homes. The home delivery service became very popular and that individual became very successful.

" I had despaired and given up yet the Person who purchased the store from me, When faced with the same challenge did not look at the the obstacles, he searched for a solution and due to his resourcefulness and Striving, Allah granted him Success.

" My Brothers, Success is dependent on a persons determination and will to succeed if we quit at the first hurdle we will never accomplish anything in life. If we see obstacles on the Journey rather then giving up, we should look for a different route to arrive at our destination.

" Whatever we are seeking to accomplish, we should remember that Allah is with those who remain steadfast, and determined in the face of adversity. If we maintain Sabr, Success by the Grace Of Allah is Bound to follow."

Written by Julaybib.

Something to Ponder.

How many people fail to accomplish anything in life be it for the Duniyah or the Akhirah, because we quit at the first hurdle. Often during the slightest of tribulations people grow despondent and stop praying.

We blame our Failure on 'badluck' or 'misfortune' whilst in reality it is our own lack of will and determination. We start many tasks and projects with great enthusiasm, but when we fail to see any apparent success we quickly grow despondent and give up.

May Allah Make us steadfast and Bless us abundantly with the blessed gift of Sabr Ameen.

On Compassion.

Julaybib wrote:

Here are the words of Qari Muhammad Hanif Multani (Ra) taken from an Urdu lecture of his.

"A certain Saintly Scholar from India had gone for Hajj, One night after The Hajj he had a dream he saw two angels talking and one of them said the people are sinners and the Hajj of not a single one of them had been accepted. The Maulana woke up quite perturbed that the Hajj of not a single person had been accepted. During the day he went to sleep after Zohar prayers. He again had a dream this time he saw the angels talking to each other and one of them said that the Hajj of only six people had been accepted and on account of these six people Allah had accepted the Hajj of everyone else , he heard the names of those six people from various parts of the world. Many of them where from far off places, but he heard the angels mention the names of a man and his wife who where from a small town in India. Hearing this he woke up from his dream.

Upon his return to India the Maulana endeavored, to seek out the Hajji Sahib and his wife to see what kind of worship they were offering that the Hajjs of so many others had been accepted on their behalf. He arrived at the small town that he heard mentioned in his dream. After searching all day he was finally directed to the house of the man whose name he had heard mentioned in his dream.

He addressed the man as a Hajji Sahib upon hearing this the old man started crying he said "Maulana sahib this unfortunate one has never been to Hajj I am not an Hajji". The Maulana sahib was perplexed you have not been to Hajj yet I heard you referred to as a Hajji in my dream by the angels themselves.

The Old Man said, " Me and my Wife where going to go to Hajj this year , all the local people were coming to visit us, and offer their mubaraks to us. One day a local woman arrived and she was in severe distress, she said to my wife "You are undertaking a blessed journey please make dua for me when you get to the harem sharif, I am a widow who is inflicted with extreme poverty, I have seven daughters who are all grown up, and I do not have the means or the resources to help get them married."

My Wife felt very sorry for her. She came to me and she said "lets use the money that we have saved for hajj and help this woman out of her difficulties, and If Allah wills we will be able to get another opportunity to make the blessed pilgrimage." When I heard the womans story I was also extremely touched by her plight. So we used the money we had saved for Hajj to help get all her daughters married, and Alhamdolillah they are all living happily."

Now the Maulana sahib understood the reality, the man had helped relieve the distress of another muslim, he had not only sacrificed his time, but his wealth and a life times dream of one day attending the Hajj. Allah had not only given this man a reward of Hajj for his act of Kindness. But due to him Allah had accepted the Hajj of others."

Something to Reflect;

How great a Blessing it is, and How great a reward for relieving the distress of another human being. Yet we fail to take full advantage of this, often within our own families we fail to show compassion or concern for our relatives who maybe going through difficulties.

If we look at the example of the Sahabah and our predecessors, one is left in wonderment as to their extraordinary acts of generosity and compassion, for even their enemies.

Yet what is our situation, even over something petty and for the sake of winning an argument we will hurt another muslim. we spend most of our time violating the rights of others, even Simple word of Kindness and sympathy for us is a major chore.

If we help someone then we keep reminding that person, " remember i helped you on such a such occasion"....Our words of Kindness and Compassion lack sincerity.

For if we was sincere Imagine the countless blessings we could accrue, by the Grace Of Allah in both the Duniyah and akhirah.

May Allah give us all tawfiq to treat other people with kindness and compassion and especially a hypocrite like myself ameen.

Qalb e Saleem.

Julaybib wrote:

The Meaning of Qalb-e-Saleem

“The day when wealth and children will not benefit anyone except he who will come to Allah with a Qalb-e-Saleem.” (Surah Shu’ara, Aayah 38-39). Thus Ibn Rajab (R.A.A.) mentions in his commentary of Imam Nawawi (R.A.A.)’s Forty Ahaadith that our beloved Nabi Muhammad e used to say in his Du’aa: “O Allah! I ask you for a Qalb-e-Saleem.”

Mentioned below are the different ways in which the Ulamaa have interpreted the phrase Qalb-e-Saleem:

1. Abdullah bin Abbas, Mujaahid, Qataadah, Ibn Sireen and many others (R.A.A.) are of the opinion that Qalb-e-Saleem is a heart that is absolutely free from Kufr (disbelief) and Nifaaq (hypocrisy). [Ruh-ul-Ma’aani, Ibn Katheer, etc.]
2. It is heart that is free from Kibr (pride), Hasad (jealousy) and Hiqd (hatred). In the words of Qurtubi (R.A.A.) it is a Khaalis (sincere) heart. This opinion is supported by the following:

i.) Rasoolullah e said: “None of you can (truly) believe until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

ii.) He e also said: “A group of people will enter Jannah – their hearts are like the hearts of the birds.” (Muslim)

iii.) Anas bin Maalik (R.A.) used to say that: “Most of the dwellers of Jannah are AL-Bulh.” According to one interpretation Al-Bulh are people who have clean hearts and who always entertain good thoughts regarding others.

(Qurtubi)

3. It is the heart which, due to extreme love for Allah and His Rasool e, leads to total obedience to Allah and his Rasool e. This opinion is supported by the following:

i.) Rasoolullah e said: “…. There is a piece of flesh in the body; if it is good, the whole body is good. And if it is bad, the whole body is bad. Listen! That piece of flesh is the heart.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

ii.) The Salaf (pious predecessors) used to say: “The heart is the king of the limbs and the rest of the limbs are its soldiers; they always obey him by implementing his instructions and they never disobey him in any regard. (Remember) when the king is pious, his soldiers will also be pious. Similarly, when the king is sinful, his soldiers will also be sinful.” (Jaami-ul-Uloom wal-Hikam)

iii.) According to one interpretation the statement of Anas t that: “Most of the dwellers of Jannah are Al-Bulh” refers to people who “don’t know sin”. (Qurtubi)

4. Sa’eed bin Musayyab e explains that the Arabs very often used the word Saleem in the meaning of Ladeegh (one who was bitten by a snake or scorpion) and this is exactly the case in the phrase Qalb-e-Saleem. (Ruh-ul-Ma’aani, etc) Thus Qalb-e-Saleem is the heart which, due to extreme fear for Allah, is like the heart of a person who has just been bitten by a scorpion. (Qurtubi) In the words of Abu Bakr ibn-ul-Arabi (R.A.A.) it is a heart that is “burnt and stung with fear (for Allah). [Ahkaam-ul-Qur’an] Some commentators of Hadith claim that the group of people who will enter Jannah because “their hearts are like the hearts of the birds” (Muslim) refer to people whose hearts are overwhelmed with fear for Allah.

Irrespective of which explanation you prefer, the truth is that it is our duty to make an effort to inculcate this Qalb-e-Saleem. May Allah guide us all to make such an effort and may he bless us all with the Qalb-e-Saleem. Aameen

Something To Ponder:

How great an effort do we put in to acquiring the wealth of this World; Family members falling out with each other over money, People engaging in theft and deception. Just so they can have the Latest status symbol the Fast Car, the gigantic size television. The ones who do not have wealth full of Jealousy towards those who do have worldly wealth. If only we would Put the same amount of effort and energy in acquiring the wwealth of the akhirah . We Would experience tremendous blessings.

" But My mother considered it Beautiful gave me Praise and encouragement, It was this kind of encouragement through out my childhood that helped me gain confidence, and become a good student.

" My Father was always full of praise, for myself and my Mother, He would always point out a good quality of Someone, before offering criticism.

If I got bad grades, he would say; " My Son I am pleased that you worked really hard, and if you keep striving your grades will improve.

My Mother was a terrible cook but "My Father would always tell her It tastes wonderful." She would ask; " what is So Wonderful about it"; He Would respond; "The effort that you put into it."

"This encouragement helped her improve that today she teaches cookery classes to young women.

"So this is the valuable, lesson I learned to be light on criticism and Strong on Praise and Encouragement. This is the reason by the grace of Allah that My Madrassah is a Success and the Students of this establishment are amongst the most accomplished in the country."

Something to Ponder;

Our Situation is such that all we know is how to criticise, be it in our homes at work or even to do with religious efforts of others. By degrading and demeaning others we accomplish nothing yet we find difficult to refrain.

How often have we witnessed the Imam of a Mosque being wrongfully slandered or an Islamic effort, be it academic or to do with Charity being defamed.

Why can't we find the time, to support such efforts if only by our words. We cannot be bothered to send even an e-mail of encouragement to individuals or organisations that we have even at times personally benefited from.

Yet when it comes to spreading rumours and lies or offering criticism, we have no qualms.

May Allah give us hidayah to be soft and mild with others especially a hypocrite like me ameen.

Giving Moral Support.

Julaybib wrote:

A young student at a Madrassah, decided to produce a weekly Newsletter, as a form of Dawah. He would record all the Spiritually uplifting words of his Shaykhs and handout the Newsletter outside the Masjid after Jumah Salah every friday.

Several Months went by and Faisal became demoralised, he had received no feedback from any of the Worshipers regarding his newsletter. On top of that he was spending all his free time, in writing, editing and publishing the newsletter.

so he assumed that the Worshipers, were not really benefiting, perhaps many of them were not even bothering to read it he thought.

He finally made a decision to stop publishing and instead focus more time on his studies.

The following Jumah the Worshipers, eagerly awaited to receive the newsletter and where disappointed to find out, it was no longer being Published. Many of them went and complained to Faisal, " where is the Newsletter" they asked.

Faisal replied; " My Brothers, when it was being Published non of you, offered any words of encouragement, now that I have decided to stop publishing you are quick to Complain. How strange is your behavior. When the service was available you took it for granted and offered not even a single word of encouragement, what cause do you have to complain now?"

Just a Thought;

How often do we behave in the same manner, we take things for granted when they are available, offering little or no moral support to those involved in the work. We only realise when the services are no longer available; be it Islamic Websites, magazines, periodicals and many other such works. Whether they are for the Duniyah or the Akhirah. Imagine the great reward for encouraging others, financially or even it is only through words.

May Allah guide us all to what is good and protect us from all that is harmful ameen.
