Shaykh Saleem, was appointed as the Imaam of a Masjid in a small rural town every evening after asr he would announce to the small congregation to remain behind for his lectures on Bukhari, yet very few people would attend. Somedays no one would remain in his gatherings.
Yet the Shaykh would deliver his lecture as usual in an audible voice, in an empty Masjid. Someone asked him; " Shaykh everyday you deliver a lecture and more often then not their is no one to listen to your lecture, the people are heedless, they have no interest in learning religious knowledge, why do you continue to deliver the lectures when you know people are not going to turn up."
The Shaykh replied; " My son the Knowledge I am departing is a trust from Allah, I have a duty to convey it. If People are not attending my gatherings then I say Alhamdulillah, and if large numbers start to attend my gatherings then I will still say Alhamdulillah.
"For the person who is enchanted by the large numbers in his audience is prone to pride, sincerity demands one to do the work of deen purely for the sake of Allah, and to never give up or become disheartened.
" If Allah wills, then people shall come in droves; for no task be it wordily or religious can be accomplished in a day, one should strive patiently purely for the sake of Allah."
It so happened that within a few years the gatherings of Shaykh Saleem, started drawing thousands of People.
The Shaykh one day spoke to the same man and said; " Now do you see the Grace of Allah, he kept me steadfast, if I had quit or given up in those early days, you would not be seeing the sight that is before your eyes.
"My son when you decide on a task be it wordily or religious patiently stick with it, be like the owner of an orchard who plants a seed, watering and paying attention to it for years until one day it grows, by the grace of Allah, into a magnificent tree, ready to bear fruit."

Just A thought;
How many amongst us never accomplish anything in life because they quit or gave up at the first hurdle. they are good at starting a task but never completing it. Whether it is a college course, or obtaining religious knowledge. Whether it is an exercise regime or some other pursuit.
Here are some motivational quotes.
" If you are seeing obstacles you are losing sight of your goal."
" A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step".
" True success only full yields its reward when a person refuses to quit."
" Self belief is everything Impossible is nothing."
"Where there is life there is hope."
" To accomplish any task you need the Skill and the will, the will must always be stronger then the skill."
May Allah give us the tawfiq to accomplish all our Pursuits, and protect us from sorrow and anxiety, fear and laziness ameen.
P.S. I humbly request your duas.
