Achieving high aims depends upon having a firm intention and a strong will. Whoever loses them will never attain one’s goals, because when one’s intention is firm, it adheres to the plan, and if one’s will is strong, the servant will walk along the right way that leads to that aim. Having a strong will opens the way and a resolute intention focuses one on the aim. If one’s aim coincides with the way that reaches to it, one will be successful.
If one’s intention is weak, one will not have a high aim. If one’s will is not strong, it will (also) not lead one to the aim. The whole matter depends upon the will and the intention of the servant, and they will never be achieved without the following:
First, neglecting innovations which people make.
Second, abandoning worldly benefits and vain pleasures, which hinder one from one’s way and aim.
Third, purification of one’s heart from any vain desires that will distract one’s intention.
in his book the Kashf ul Majub.Shaykh Ali Al Hujweri (RA) Narrates:
Abu Sahl Suluki (RA) never put alms into the hand of a dervish, and always used to lay on the ground anything that he gave. " worldly goods," he said, " are too worthless to be placed in the hand of a moslem, so that my hand should be the upper and his the lower."
I once met a dervish to whom a Sultan had sent three hundred drachms of pure gold. He went to a bath house, and gave the whole sum to the Superintendent and immediately departed.
On Putting The plan Into action.
The Persian Mystic and poet Mullah Jami, narrates in his Baharistan.
Alexander having been asked by what means he had attained such dominion, power, and glory at so youthful an age and during so short a reign, replied; " By conciliating foes till they turned away from the path of enmity, and by strengthening the alliances with friends till they became firm in the bonds of amity."
In his Baharistan (Abode of Spring)..Mullah Jami narrates the following.
The dialogue of lovers.
The Beautiful Maiden.
" By God, who openly and secretly
is worshipped by men and Jinns,
I swear of all whom i see in the world no one is dearer to me than thou."
The Handsome Youngman.
" O thou who sawest me, and residest in my heart, soul and body all now belong to thee it is no wonder;
It, must be a stone not a heart, which turns not to thee!
The girl replied that now her only desire was that they should spent time alone in each others embrace.
The Youngman replied. " My desire is the same, but what can I do? As God the most high says: ' The intimate friends on that day shall be enemies unto one another except the pious,' which means that on the day of resurrection friendship of friends will become enemity, except the friendship of the abstemious, which will increase the attachment. I do not wish that on the morn of resurrection the edifice of our love impaired, and our friendship be turned into enmity." After saying these words, he departed saying the following:
" O heart, abandon this love of two days, because a love of two days profits not; choose a love where with on the day of reckoning. Thou mayest abide in the eternal abode."
A Man completed his prayers and then began his supplications, desiring to enter paradise and to be delivered from the fire of hell. An Old Woman, who happened to be seated at the rear of the masjid, and heard him said. " O Lord, cause me to share in whatever he supplicates for."
The man who had listened to the woman then said: " O Lord, hang me on a gibbet and cause me to die of scourging." The Woman continued: " O Lord Pardon me and preserve me from what he asked for." The man then turned in her direction and said: " What a wonderfully unpleasant partner this is! she desires to
share with me in all that brings rest and pleasure, but refuses to be my partner in distress and misery."
Something to reflect.
Many people fall into the above trap, and become embroiled in illicit relationships, and destructive companionships of friends who encourage towards Haram. . In due course they end up, far removed from the deen. When calamity arrives, neither those friends nor those Lovers who sang rhymes of Love are to be found.
Mullah Jami narrates .
A beautiful woman had many admirers, whose attentions where so assiduous that the very street in which she she lived became thronged by visitors, but when her attractions disappeared and she had become ugly her lovers abandoned her. Then I said to one of them: " She is the same friend as before, with the same eyes, brows, lips, but perhaps her stature is less tall and her body more stout. It is faithless and treacherous on thy part to neglect her."
He replied: " Alas for what thou sayest! That which ravished the heart, and enthralled the senses, was the spirit which resided in her form, in the gracefulness of her limbs, the smoothness of her complexion, and the pleasantness of her voice, but as that spirit has departed from the figure, how can I love a dead body, or show affection to a whithered rose,?"
May Allah protect us from illicit relationships and the friendship of those who are irreligious and may he grant us only the companionship of those who are Pious Ameen.
No one repented for keeping a secret under seal,
But many for having revealed it.
Remain silent, because to sit quietly with a collected mind.
Is better than speaking what will distract it.
Alexander degraded one of his officials by removing him from a high and employing him in a low post. One day this man waited upon Alexander, who asked him what he thought of his occupation, he replied: " a man is not ennobled by a great occupation, but an occupation is ennobled by a great man. in every post honesty, justice and equity are needed." Alexander was pleased with his opinion, and re-installed him in his former office.

....extracted from ‘360 degrees’ lecture by : Kamal El-Mekki, here sharing with you..
Oh Self…
Oh myself what will calm you?
Can’t u remain patient for a day or two?
I tried to contain you but your strength overpowers.
But when we die life will seems like hours.
So can’t you be patient for part of the day
and remains steadfast upon the straight way.
The direction you are taking leads to my worst fears.
Of the day we stand for fifty thousand years.
No one will joke nor talk nor smile.
And the sun from our heads will be at a mile.
No where to hide and no where to sleep.
Standing for what seems like eternity.
Then the judgment begins and the books will land
either on your right or your left hand.
Oh myself do not become like those who left the right track.
And put their left hand behind their back.
Oh self how do you plan to cross, the sirat suspended in the air?
Craftier than a fox
Sharper than a sword
And thinner than a hair
How do you plan to cross or will you cross at all?
With the blink of an eye will you run or would you rather crawl?
The bad deeds you command will drop you from it.
And only good deeds put you back upon it.
Oh self, it's a five hundred years drop suspension.
Over a terrible place I would rather not mention.
Oh self don’t be fooled by this world and its illusions.
And keep in mind the judgment, the grave and other inclusions.
Oh self wake up don’t follow your desire;
and ask for forgiveness to avoid the fire.
Oh self keep the command and avoid the prohibitions.
And pay close attention to these admonitions.
Be amongst those who were the bests of planners.
Who prepared for the futures with good deeds and with good manners.
Oh self it is simply about your control.
Being patience now so as to reach your goal
I don’t mean to put burden or to put much stress.
Just to warn of the days when the limbs confessed,
Sins add up as you live through the years.
When sadness won’t save you and all will the tears.
Every time you sins the satan is winning.
So remember the one against whom you are sinning.
Oh myself life is short and ends when you least expected.
And then what will you say when you are resurrected.
The angel of death overlooked you and took the soul of your brothers
And one day he will come to you and overlook others.
For great rewards plant the righteous seeds.
Oh Allah, we seek refuge from the evil of ourselves and from the evil of our deeds!
A man said to Hadhrat Ja'far Saadiq (rahmatullah alayh):
"Show me Allah. I want to see Him with my eyes."
Hadhrat Ja'far:
"Have you not heard (i.e. in the Qur'aan) it is said to Musaa (alayhis salaam): 'You cannever see Me.' ?"
The man said:
"I have heard it. But this is the Millat (Deen) of Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wassallam). Someone calls out: 'My heart has seen Allah'. Another says: 'I do not worship a being I cannot see'."
(This man was referring to statements of the Auliyaa of this Ummah. If they could make these claims, then there can be nothing wrong in the demand to see Allah. So thought this man.)
Imaam Ja'far Saadiq ordered his mureeds (disciples) to tie the man and toss him into the river Dajla. This was done. The water swallowed him. As he bobbed up, he cried: 'O son of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wassallam), help! Help!'
Hadhrat Ja'far exclaimed: 'O water take him.' The water submerged the man. This occurred several times. Each time when he surfaced, he cried out: 'O son of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wassallam), help! Help!' Finally when he lost all hope, he called out: 'O Allah, help me!' Hadhrat Ja'far ordered his disciples to bring him out of the river. After the man had rested and gained his composure, Hadhrat Ja'far asked: "Did you see Allah?"
The man: "As long as I called to others, there remained a veil concealing Allah. When I turned my attention only to Him, seeking His aid, a window opened up in my heart from which I saw Him."
Hadhrat Ja'far Saadiq said:
"As long as you called: 'Saadiq! Saadiq!', you were a kaathib (liar). Now guard this window."
(Saadiq means true. As long as the man was calling 'Saadiq', his belief in Allah was defective, hence Hadhrat Ja'far Saadiq described his as being kaathib. When he abandoned calling creation to aid him and turned his gaze to Allah, he became a true believer.)
Something to Ponder.
Hakim al-Umma Hadhrat Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said,
“If family members, close friends and other acquaintances do not love you anymore then be content that Allah, Most High made this a means for your heart to turn away from everything other-than-Him (ghair-Allah).”
" If you come here and do not put into practice what you learn you will only be a nuisance to the audience. As long as you are in your shop, you continue to think of your failing business, and when you come to me it is only to comfort yourself. Therefore no matter how many times you come, you hear what I have to say as if you have not heard anything. O property owner! Forget about your posessions and come and sit among the poor and be humble toward Allah and toward them."
Shaykh al sayyid Abdul Qadir al Gilani (RA) taken from jila al Khatir (The purification of the mind).
Something to Ponder.
How much of our learning or studying is done out of sincerity, we listen to lecture after lecture, we read advices after advices, we fail to put even a fraction of what we learn into practice.
Often we only read and study stuff when we are enduring difficulties to help us
find comfort and feel better emotionally, we very rarely do it to establish a stronger connection and relationship with Allah. We read the Quran and Hadith the works of Luminaries such as Imam al Ghazali (RA) and shaykh Abdul Qadir al Gilani,(RA) yet we remain heedless the Knowledge we learn does not penetrate our hearts.
May Allah give us all hidayah and the tawfiq to practice what we learn especially a Hypocrite and sinner like Ameen.
There was this young brother named zaid in a small town. He had very little money left but enough to get by. However he had no job and he has to pay a few thousand bucks for an enrichment course he was going to take and he was worried about how he was going to pay for it. One day, he saw a brother at a masjid and saw that he does not seem to be from the same town. Upon talking to the brother, zaid realised that the brother was in a worse condition than him financially and helped him with some of the little money he had. On the same night, Zaid received a phone call that he had been offered a job.
Moral:The Prophet (Peace be upon him) has said: "Sadaqah (charity) does not decrease wealth. (Muslim)
Consider the difference....in our actions and God's actions.
We often ask, "Why did you do that?" or "Why did I act like that?"
We do act, and yet everything we do is God's creative action.
We look back and analyze the events of our lives, but there is another way of seeing, a backward-and-forward-at-once vision, that is not rationally understandable.
Only God can understand it.
Satan made the excuse, you caused me to fall, whereas Adam said to God, We did this to ourselves.
After this repentance, God asked Adam, 'Since all is within
my foreknowledge, why didn't you defend yourself with that reason? '
Adam answered, 'I was afraid, and I wanted to be reverent.'
Brother Julaybib, I have to say this is by far the best forum I have come to on this sight.
Alhumdulillah that Allah has given you the ability to help others to reflect on themselves through your stories.
How else can one grow in this beautiful deen without reflecting on oneself and if one is truly living one's life according to Islam.
Alhumdulliah, through your stories I have done some self reflection of my own, and Alhumdulliah by Allah's leave I have begun to make changes in my life for the better, and insha'Allah I will continue to do so. Allah is truly Akbar!!
So often we find ourselves pointing the finger at our fellow Muslims, or even those whom we perceived to be non Muslims, insiting that they're disbelievers etc. Judging, throwing out accusation, saying who's a true believer or not, never remembering that Allah is the one who makes the believers, and Allah is the only who knows what's in the hearts of man.
Furthermore, it is not often that we look at ourselves and ask "What are we doing to please Allah (s.w.t)?"
In everything we do, we have to ask ourselves will this please or displease Allah (s.w.t), and insha'Allah this will always make us reflect on ourselves rather than others.
So again I praise Allah for allowing this important part of our deen to come through you and your stories.
May Allah, guide you, guard you, blot out your iniquities, purify you, cleanse you, give you excellent health, and have mercy on your soul-Ameen, ameen, ameen.
