That's pathetic in my opinion. But then I guess they want to keep their names off the target list.

even afghan taliban did not condemn them by name...why? are they afraid of them?

you see, a lot is at stake. sometimes you have to put up with groups because the alternative (i.e. that group losing) is even more horrible than the consequences of disowning them. obviously steps are taken away from prying eyes of media to correct the mistakes. unfortunately some ulema far away in dar ul harb and unaware of ground reality, issue fatwa only on what media says or on hearsay.

I understand, they condemned the act but not the group that carried it out. In other words, showing their disgust of an un-Islamic act and disassociating themselves from such things.

I don't think so.
All institutions delivered their fatawa regarding this issue. Mufti Rafi sahb db clearly called them "zalimaan". Mufti Zubair sb called them cancerous part of humanity. I think their view is pretty clear.

i said 'majority'...and how many of these fatawa have been put into writing bearing TTP's name? even ashrafia's 2009-10 fatwa against TTP's khurooj against pakistani state did not mention them by name.

No you ain't right. All our scholars have very clear stance regarding ttp. I think their officials press conferences and bayans are enough prove, don't need to be in written form.

you named two scholars who condemned them by name. and why haven't the afghan taliban condemned them by name whose name TTP uses?
and how many of these scholars ever condemned army by name? mufti rafi (ha) mentioned musharraf by name as responsible for Lal Masjid massacre...who else has?

Wifaqul Madaris condemned them. And I think that if no one except Mufti Rafi sahb db issued statement, even then Mufti sahb's statement was enough for us.

And Regarding afghan taliban, I don't know much.
