23NOV2014 (Start):

1 Saudi Arabia: Moon Sigting is NOT ATTEMPTED but 1st of Safar is declared according to Umm al-Qura Calendar from Sunday the 23rd of November. This "sighting" wasn't possible either by naked eye or telescope!

24NOV2014 (Start):

 

1 Turkey: Moon Sigting is NOT ATTEMPTED but 1st of Safar is declared according by Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığıhas from Monday the 24th of November. There isn't much in terms of actual moon sighting attempts in Turkey for any months!

 

2 South Africa: Moon was SIGHTED so 1st of Safar is declared from Monday the 24th of November.

 

3 United Kingdom: Moon was SIGHTED so 1st of Safar is declared from Monday the 24th of November.

 

4 India: Awaiting news

 

5 United States: Awaiting news

 

6 Canada: Awaiting news

 

7 Pakistan: Moon was SIGHTED so 1st of Safar is declared from Monday the 24th of November.

Safar, 1436H

The Hilal for the month of Safar was sighted in Houston and Dallas, TX by a large number of people, including many Ulema-kiraam from the Ulama Council of Houston (a subcommittee of the CHC) on the evening of Sunday, November 23, 2014. Therefore the 1st of Safar 1436 will be Monday, November 24, 2014 Insha'Allah.

India:
Seen by Others: MCW member Mr. Molvi Iqbalhusen Bokda from Godhra, Gujrat reported: Moon for Safar, 1436 was not seen today on Sunday, November 23 here at Godhra, India. Friends from other places as Surat, Mumbai, Delhi gave negative sighting reports. However, later Moon committee of Ahmedabad has declared based on sighting in Saurashtra (West Gujarat) that 1st Safar will be on Monday 24th November.

I find it really amazing that some months are 2,3 and even 4 days apart and some months start on the same day. I appreciate the reasons of not being able to view the moon, but 3/4 days is so long..

There is pretty much unanimous start in Gujarat from Tuesday. The problem I have with moonsighting.com is that their information is random and often neither official nor confirmed.
