Holy Qur'an; reliable english translations?

As-salam-u-'Alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Kindly, any brother who is certain, reply.

I use iQuran often, and would like to know are the translations by the following listed people reliable?

-Mohsin Khan

-Yusuf Ali

-Shakir

-Pickthal

-Mohs Asad

PS: (I do have Maariful Qur'an, in english, but for convenience I read along on the app)

Don't know about Shakir but, besides Pickthal and Ma'ariful Qur'an, the rest of the translations have some issues according to Ulama'.


Best English near translation of the Qur'an imo is Qur'an Made Easy by Mufti Afzal Husein Ilyas.

Contemporary and simple English with a jalalain format of the ayat.

Pickthall (May Allah shower him with rahmah) was a convert. He was supported by the Nizam of Hyderabad and Ulama of Azhar, afaik...but I just got this info off the internet.

Is Muhammad Asad's translation reliable? Does anyone know about him in particular, did he have any views that strayed away from mainstream Sunni Islam?
