Perception matters.
More so in our times when our mindset and mentality has accustomed ourself to seek rational scientific explanation for things. Tonight you may sit by your bedside and make du'a to Allah to bring barakah and harmony in your life. Tomorrow, your relative who has been suffering from fever may break sweat and break out of that fever. Allah Ta'ala granted your du'a, but every doctor and hakeem will tell you that his medication or the dietary prescription or whatever finally took its course. Our perceptions no longer see hand of Allah being the works behind the actions. Even when we hear about documented super strength miracles, it is often just classified as adrenaline rush giving supernatural strength.
As for clear visual karamat, imagine if someone were to tell you of such a karamat that happened to him, in face. How would you start reacting towards him? Chances are you will classify him into the kookoo register or bragger or liar etc. So most of the times such karamat will not be discussed except in gathering of people who are willing or are mature enough to understand them in their correct restrictive manner.
How if I told you that I have witnessed nothing less than karamah in Mufti Ebrahim Desai. No materialization of things from ghaib or anything, but having worked with him over 7 years, I cannot deny that he has some hidden power behind him at work. He does not tire much in the day. I have given straight 13 hour shifts with him, where he continued on and I had to retire and go home. and at times this would go day after day. I have seen instances with him, where we said there is no way out of the situation, and somehow he would find a way. If at anytime work would present at his desk, while he is about to wrap up, it would mean, extra hours for me because he would make sure that work is finished. Karamah is acts contrary to the ordinary. When I see such inordinary acts from Mufti Ebrahim Saheb, I have to consider them to be atleast closer to karamah.
But if you are looking for flagrant karamah, I would say listen to the details of tableeghi jamat's journeys. You will find many. Although they are not normally talked about but some do mention them.
One question that comes if why would these awliyaa mention their karamat etc. Well, in most cases one of their students would narrate it and not the Sheikh himself. In other cases, they would consider it their duty to inform of the vision of Rasulullah salallahu alayhi wasallam, to their close students. While others would mention ahwal (occurances) to them as a means of teaching or preparing them for what they may face. These are on discretion of these awliya'. In most cases the students would narrate an occurance if there is some moral to be gained from them, like in the case of fadha'il durood.
