Subhanallah

This is truly heart-warming and hope this becomes a functioning Masjid again. I distinctly recall a talk of Shaykh Husain Abdul Sattar regarding the journey they made with Shaykh Zulfiqar to Turkey.

And what happened was very interesting. Aya Sofia was on the route. Then, when they reached there, Shaykh Zulfiqar refused to enter. He said that this is a Masjid, and how can I enter the Masjid with my shoes on? And he was visibly upset and hurt at how the Masjid had been converted into a Museum/Tourist attraction. He said the remainder of the group can go inside, but he would sit outside. It is written in book of Shaykh Mustafa Kamal that Hazrat had sat with eyes closed, and focused his tawajjuh. He mentioned there were two types of tawajjuh - one which is directed to Muslims, and other to non-Muslims. To non-Muslims, in order that they increase in their awe and respect for Deen.

It is mentioned that many people were affected by this, and many tourists began taking photos.
